I see there is at least one person on the forum who is living in Japan. I would be interested in hearing about how you see the way in which Shinto, Buddhism and (to a lesser extent from what I read) Christianity are mingled in Japanese culture.
Do you see this mix occurring in those who identify primarily as Christian? If so, do you think the mix is more common among Protestant or Catholic or is there a difference? Or is the mix really limited to things liike weddings where it may be only the outward forms of Christianity that are being used without a belief structure being involved?
What do you perceive as the attitude of Buddhist and Shinto toward Christianity? Do the attitudes differ about Protestant vs. Catholic?
