Look at what is happening in Bulgaria!
A mob of masked thugs attack a hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses trying to commemorate the death of Jesus Christ.

Warning - this may disturb some viewers.

Five JW’s were injured, and in a news article one of the group responsible had the check to say: “these kinds of accidents will continue until Jehovah’s Witnesses are banned!”
The flags are of the political party VMRO.

Here is another with a translation, on a news broadcast it seems:

All sorts of lies about brainwashing and suicide pacts and satanic rituals and mafia… The media refers to JW’s “own twisted beliefs” (biased at all you think?)

View the video again and decide yourself who are the peaceful law abiding people here?
This is scary.

Comments?

I may not agree with the doctrines/beliefs of the JW’s, but I respect their right to practice their faith peacefully and without fear of attack.

Sadly, this is all to common…

Jesus teaches to Love those who hate us. This is one of His hardest teachings to follow sometimes, but the reward in Heaven is worth it.👍

It would be nice to see the media provide better news coverage of this kind of stuff.

Obviously it’s a wake-up call to the west.

What in the …?! They walked on personal Church property and did this?

Who are those attackers?

These JW / Mormons need to arm themselves, in their Churches and in their homes.

What’s with the police standing there not arresting the whole lot of those idiots?

Those men are one step away from the terroristic behavior we’ve seen in Islamic countries toward Christians.

Does anyone know how much ethnic nationalism might play in this? As a Mormon missionary I learned first hand how we were perceived as a “foreign church”, despite the fact that my own companion was a native. I wouldn’t be surprised if the JWs are met with the same suspicion, and given this area of the world, I’m thinking Yugoslavia all over again. I’ve been told that the BVMO is an Orthodox, Bulgarian Nationalist party. Anybody know anything about this?

No one will argue that this is justifiable in any way, but how is this different than the Christians who have been not just injured, but murdered, in the middle east in the very recent past? JW’s are certainly not alone in being persecuted.

Anyway, my sympathies are with you.

God bless.

The oldest JW yearbook I have at hand says there were 1200 JW’s active in 2002. That has grown to 1700 in 2010. So they have been there a while. Probably since the Berlin wall fell, (and in secret before that.)
So it is not as if this is a new team of American missionaries who turned up last year and is accidentally treading on local customs. These will be local Bulgarians who have become JW’s in the last few decades.
A small religion in Bulgaria, but averaging about +5% a year growth lately. Sometimes a bit of envy comes in here. (“Why are they growing and we are not”). Or ignorance. -All sorts of lies are being reported in the media there about suicide pacts and mafia connections and dirty money and preying on children… (stay posted for claims of Al Queda connections, WMDs and human sacrifice! )
The JW’s in Russia are starting to get a hard time now too. - jw-media.org/ Despite the European court of human rights saying what the Russian government is doing is illegal.
So maybe it is an ex-communist “freak out at change” thing? They used to attack anyone who didn’t ‘tow the line’. Some start to attack those changing now?
