Hi All,

I came across a website called directionforourtimes.com about an Irish lady (I am also Irish) who claims to be getting messages from heaven. I read a lot of the messages and they don’t seem to contradict anything but sometimes the wording seemed a bit off to me.

Anyway I looked up a bit online and most people are not convinced by this so I guess my question is are there anyway more modern apparitions that are approved or that people think are legit?

Thanks :).

How modern do you want? Divine Mercy? The question is, what are you looking for from such things?

They are private, and not public revelations, Catholics are not required to believe them.

In such messages or apparitions, Our Lady does not reveal anything new about our faith, because the fullness of the reality of God has been revealed to us in Jesus Christ. Instead, and quite remarkably, Mary constantly re-directs and points us toward her Son, the Christ, and reminds us of His uniqueness “He was conceived of the Virgin Mary” (Apostles Creed). Neither do authentic apparitions add any additional material to the truths of the Catholic Church as expressed in public revelation.

Thanks for the reply.

I am not looking for something different in the messages or anything but interested in what the messages are (if they are legit) for the modern world.

I understand what your saying but if the messages were not important then God would surely not allow them.

Pax Christi!

I understand and share your interest, chief87. These locutions are not necessary, but they certainly are fascinating. If we keep the Catholic Church’s rulings (or lack thereof) in mind, it can be a safe and wonderful ride.

I have discovered mysticsofthechurch website, which is very good and tries to be faithful to the Church. If you check out spiritdaily.com (careful! they promote Medjugorja) you can find links to apparitions, both approved and unapproved. www.spiritdaily.com also has (sometimes sensationalized) articles on alleged visions, weeping statues and the like.

Be careful; follow the Church. But explore if you like.

God bless.

Oh but God allows a lot of things that are not good. All you have to do is look around and you can see that. The World, the Flesh and the Devil are very busy these days. That’s why we trust the Church to guide us. I wouldn’t be to curious about some of the strange apparitions and messages that seem to be occurring today. St. John of the Cross warned us of these things many years ago. even the Bible warns us too to be very careful who we listen to. That’s why Jesus gave us His Church to guide us. God Bless, Memaw

Can you elaborate please?

In that case can someone recommend approved apparitions by the Church so I can take a look.

Thanks.
Go on the Catholic Answers web site, catholic.com and I am sure they can give you lots of information on approved Apparitions. God Bless, Memaw

When I first learned of the Fatima apparitions almost 40 years ago I took it to heart and consecrated myself to Our Lady. BTW, Our Lady promised to appear 7 times at Fatima but to date has only appeared 6 times.

Most recently I’ve learned the story of Our Lady of Good Success and the amazing Mariana of Jesus Torres which took place in the Convent of the Immaculate Conception in Quito, Ecuador that still houses the miraculous statue and will according to Our Lady until the end of time.
Mariana was told by Our Lady that her visions and life would only be known beginning from the twentieth century, and was asked to help by her prayers and penances the souls of that time (you & me) in which there would be an enormous decadence of the faith. It was God’s will to reserve these revelations and the story of the life of Mother Mariana for our time.

You can get the abridged of full 2 volume versions of the story at Amazon or listen to a few Youtube lectors if you Google it.

I highly reccomend the Novena which in all honesty I say each day: ourladyofgoodsuccess.com/frames-3-4-2005/novena.html

Our Lady only said 6 times. May to Oct. And she did!. I only pay attention to the ones that have been approved. So easy to get side tracked by ones that are not good. Some are downright goofy.God Bless, Memaw

After Fatima in 1917, the following apparitions were declared to be supernatural:

Banneux Belgium 1937

Amsterdam Holland 1945

Akita Japan 1973

Syracuse Italy 1947

Betania Venezuela 1976

Kibeho Rwanda 1981

San Nicolas Argentina 1983

Interested in those with Coptic Approval?
Zeituin Egypt 1968

Edfu Egypt 1982

Shoubra Egypt 1986

Assiut Egypt 2000

Warraq El -Haddar Egypt 2009

How about older apparitions that only recently got approved?

Our Lady of Laus (France), took place btwn 1664- 1718; approved 2008

Champion Wisconsin, Adele Brise had visions in 1859; approved 2010

Our Lady’s words at the first apparition:

‘I have come to ask you to come here for six months in succession, on the 13th day, at this same hour. Later on, I will tell you who I am and what I want. Afterwards, I will return here yet a seventh time.’

If she didn’t say when, then it is still possible.

In Fr Rafferty’s 1950 interview with Sr. Lucy recorded in 1958 and still available he asked now St Lucy about the 7th appearance of Our Lady of Fatima and although she would not expound she confirmed Our Lady did say it and then smiled politely leaving Fr. Rafferty & his colleague the impression it would be in the future.

Lets face it, Fatima is the predominant Marian apparition of the 20th century. What other apparition can come close to predicting a date for a miracle and then having it witnessed by 70,000 people?
