There are passages in the Bible that have been fulfilled in remarkable detail by modern Israel. This is not stated in order to claim that Armageddon is near because the restoration of Israel doesn’t provide any clarity as to when Christ will return. But modern Israel as a fulfillment of prophecy is an amazing confirmation that Jesus is the Messiah.

The Jews rejected Jesus mainly because they rejected the idea of a Divine Messiah. Other reasons include the belief that the Messiah must restore Israel after Israel has been scattered among the nations. The scattering of Israel among the nations didn’t even occur until after Christ.

But the phrase “after Christ” can be misleading because it implies that Christ is dead. Jesus didn’t die and then go away. Jesus returned from the dead and then ascended as a living human. We are not waiting on the Lord to return from the dead, we are waiting on the living Messiah to return from a journey.

The Messiah is said to be like Moses and Jesus is like Moses in many ways. One way Jesus is like Moses is that Moses went up the mountain to be with God and then he returned. Likewise Jesus went to be with God and He will return.

Modern Israel fulfills prophecy but where is the Messiah who was supposed to lead this restoration of Israel? If modern Israel is the fulfillment of prophecy then it must be true that the Messiah is the Lord. The prophecy doesn’t say that the Messiah will not be the Lord; the prophecy says that the Messiah will be born a descendant of David.

We don’t think of a person born two thousand years ago as still being alive, but if Jesus is Divine, His remarkable longevity shouldn’t be a problem. To this day, any miraculous act that occurs anywhere in the world is something that could have been done by Jesus since Jesus is still alive. In a sense Jesus is still will us; He is merely out of sight. Modern Israel establishes that the Messiah must be the Lord. The Messiah is supposed to restore Israel and Jesus has now done this. He simply waited until He was over nineteen hundred years old to do it.

With Christ’s ministry, “Israel” has been expanded to include the whole world. There is no longer a single chosen nation. The New Jerusalem has descended!

The mark of the ancient Jewish faith were sacrifices at the Temple. God the Father himself was present in the Temple, inside the Holy of Holies. The ancient priests brought sacrifices of lamb and other animals to God at the Template. On the Feast of Passover, circa AD 33, the Jesus Christ became the final sacrifice of the Jewish faith.

The “veil” of Template is documented to have been torn, during an earthquake following Christ’s death. The veil separated the Holy of Holies from the altar in the Temple. God the Father left the Temple, because it had fulfilled its purpose. It was simply coincidental that the Temple was destroyed a few years later by the Romans.

The Jewish nation has endured against untold persecution since Christ’s death an resurrection. It would be a flawed understanding of Scripture to attribute this to any prophesy. The Jews endure because God still favors them, although he wishes they would embrace his Son. Great sins have been committed against the Jews; these sins are magnified by the violation of God’s will that they should endure.

However, the Temple of the Jewish faith has been succeeded by the Temple that is Christ’s body. The prophesy’s of scripture no longer address the physical Temple, but Christ himself. Christ himself is the “Third Temple” prophesied by Ezekiel!

Yes with Christ we know that God has children throughout the world.

Christ is the final sacrifice.

Really Christ is the one and only sacrifice. The animal sacrifice prior to Christ was merely pointing to the coming of Christ. Yet this is one of many examples to show that Christ coming to Israel and being crucified was all part of the plan. What Israel did was part of the plan.

Never mind Paul’s discussion of a branch (Israel) being removed and the Church being grafted in, Paul was merely giving an analogy. The Catholic Church doesn’t believe in what some call “Replacement Theology”.

We should not see Israel as Plan A, and the Church as Plan B. God doesn’t need a Plan B. It is more correct to say that Israel is Phase 1 and the Church is Phase 2, and we don’t know if there will be a Phase 3 and if so what it will be.

The establishment of the Church doesn’t mean that God is finished with Israel. Remember, Israel did what they were supposed to do. There is no reason to believe that the covenant with Israel is void. The fact that God has children in every nation does not void the covenant, and the fact that Jesus was the true sacrifice does not void the covenant.

Prophecies have been fulfilled in modern times by modern Israel. Prophecies that were not fulfilled previously since the Jews were not scattered among the nations until after Christ. Prophecy have been fulfilled in pretty remarkable details.
