So I know as Catholics we believe in miracles.

I know there was a woman in France a few years back who suffered from a terminal illness and she was one day cured.

Many including the Church believe this to be a miracle. Are there times (NOTE: I am not soliciting a medical opinion) when we should just disregard modern medicine and let faith do the work.

I once met an elderly woman who was with the faith. She refused all modern medicine. And prayed for her conditions to be cured.

Is that wise to just always leave it up to God and not the Doctors and nurses?

Not if the goal is to get well, no.

If the goal is to prove the strength of your faith, despite the effects of your choice on your health, then yes.

No, I do not believe that God wants us to just let the boat pass us by while we continue to pray. I like to think that God would like us to get in the boat and row, even in the midst of the most terrible storm, and pray at the same time. When I pray for a miracle, it is because my sister has ovarian cancer, which is not curable, only treatable, and her chemotherapy has run its course. She got in the boat, rowed, and prayed at the same time.
