I’m considering writing a small collection of “modern parables”. I recently had the thought, “What would Jesus have to either enforce, defend, or dispel amongst Christians who are struggling with the errors present today?” I’ve got a good gift for writing, so I thought I’d flush the idea out while helping the Church at the same time. I’ve already written one based on the Protestant inconsistency of where The Word of God truly exists. Anyone else have good ideas about what more need to head about as fr as muddle subjects relating to the Church, what Christianity really is, the Church vs worldly creeds, etc?
 
I love this. I also believe parables are an effective means to evangelize. In fact, Jesus’ focus on storytelling is one of the primary reasons I am convinced of His divinity. Every single one of them is airtight. It takes years of practice to master the craft of storytelling in the way He did. Only God, the ultimate author of our universe, can understand so profoundly the importance of narrative when it comes to our ability to understand. Truth be told, I am shocked to see this posted here, as I have recently thought of requesting a special place in this forum for the art of parables and poetry. I can not help but take this as a sign.

Does anyone here know how this can be done? Will you help support me in this request? I'd love to get into a deeper discussion on the power narratives have on our intellect. Concepts like metaphor and figurative language are paramount to our relation with reality. These tools are naturally ingrained in us. Without them, all concepts of reality are abstract and impossible to contextualize. I am firmly convinced that this truth is divine. Through storytelling, we participate in God's creation, and make His truth felt rather than just known. It is also the only possible way to literally put one person into the perspective of another, and therefore it is the most effective weapon against the ego. 

 Forgive me if I've hijacked this thread. I am currently in a graduate program for writing, and my interest in the connection between my faith and craft has become an obsession. I honesty believe this is one area of evangelization that needs exploration. From my own studies, I am convinced that the craft of writing in itself is intrinsically tied to the search for God, which explains the thinness and absurdity of modern literature that seeks to ignore or deny Him. Thank you for this thread. I look forward to what you and others have to say on the matter.

I did manage to get another one written down. It deals with the there being only 1 path to Heaven, and how one can tell by its fruits, and especially how one can tell where it is not by the fruits of other spiritual roads.

I am trying to work my way up to at least ten before thinking of sending the transcript to Ignatius Press or any other Catholic publisher.

Hello again! It’s been a few months since this project started, but I’ve gotten the series up and going on YouTube as a video series.
