Last night, I watched a film about the life and work of Alfred C. Kinsey starring Liam Neeson. I have known about Alfred Kinsey for a few years, but I didn’t know much about him or his work. I stumbled upon the film accidentally while channel surfing, and I am glad I decided to watch. The film portrays Kinsey as a groundbreaking scientist who exposed the sexual ignorance of the masses and helped to remove the old morals preventing society from truly enjoying and embracing sexuality. While the film attempts to portray Kinsey in a good light, I came away with the impression that Kinsey was a sexual deviant who used his ‘research’ to legitimise his own sexual perversions. I cannot believe that his work on human sexuality forms the basis of sexual education in schools; and I find it disturbing that his ‘findings’ have changed laws and altered the way society views sex and sexuality. It is plainly obvious that his ‘research’ was skewed, biased, and in many instances, completely wrong.

Kinsey interviewed thousands of people in an attempt to learn about normal human sexuality. He collected the sex history of many people and used the information to arrive at his bizarre conclusions. This would all be fine if not for one major problem. Kinsey did not restrict his research to average people, but collected a lot of his data from convicted sex offenders and sexual deviants. He claimed to be researching normal sexuality but chose to study sexual deviants on the fringe of society. His research does not represent the average members of society; it is tainted by data retrieved from paedophiles, rapists, homosexuals, sadists, and those with a preference for unnatural forms of sexuality. Kinsey visited many gay bars and bath-houses during his research, and he wrote to and met with many notorious child sex offenders. The fact that he focused his attention on deviants means that his research is flawed and skewed. I believe Kinsey would have arrived at different conclusions had he collated accurate, balanced and fair information. However, I think Kinsey deliberately chose to interview sexual deviants in order to gain the data needed to legitimise his own sexual perversions. Kinsey had a deranged sexual mentality and sought to condone his behaviour through his research findings.

Kinsey was a married bisexual who preferred homosexual intercourse to heterosexual intercourse. He was addicted to pornography and was a chronic masturbator. He also engaged in sadomasochism; and even circumcised himself without the aid of pain killers in order to derive some weird form of sexual gratification. Kinsey engaged in many forms of sexual perversion, and condoned all forms of sexuality. In the name of ‘research’ he encouraged paedophiles to continue molesting children and record their ‘findings’ i.e. write down the details of their molestations. Instead of condemning their actions, Kinsey taught that paedophilia forms part of ‘normal’ human sexuality. He claimed that societies reaction to the act (paedophilia) was worse than the act itself! Kinsey also claimed that almost all people have homosexual tendencies, and that wholly heterosexual individuals are extremely rare. He used the findings of paedophiles to claim that children are sexual from birth and that babies are capable of having multiple orgasms! He also taught that extramarital affairs are common, and that they are actually good for the marriage! Kinsey was clearly a maniac who succeeded in misleading society to accept his unorthodox – and bizarre – views on human sexuality.

The work of Kinsey was directly responsible for the sexual revolution of the 1960’s. His work was used to decriminalise homosexuality and the creation of the no-fault divorce. Kinsey was influential in the movement towards viewing sex as a recreation, as apposed to a procreative activity between spouses. He also encouraged the widespread distribution of pornography. In short, Kinsey is responsible to the loosening of sexual morals within society. All of the problems relating to sex in the modern society can in some way be linked to the work of Alfred C. Kinsey. The most worrying aspect of all this is that Kinsey’s work forms the foundation of modern sex education in schools around the world. Our children are being taught the erroneous and morally damaging beliefs of a sexually deviant madman!

All the things You mentioned above were going on before Kinsey did his study. Most is true cause most people worship sex pleasure in any form they can get it. Been around, seen a whole lot

Yes, but Kinsey removed the stigma associated with many forms of deviant sexuality. Homosexuality has always existed, but this behaviour has never had the widespread social acceptance it currently enjoys; and we have the work of Kinsey to thank for this.

There was a lot of deviant behavior going on before Kinsey came along, but his work was just what people wanted to hear, to justify their actions. Homosexuality has been here since the beginning of time & it isnt going away any time soon. There is worse deviant sex pleasure than Homosexuality, look at all the child sex trade etc, & no shortage of people to take advantage of them. As far as Homos go, they are born that way thru no fault of their own, Its a heavy cross indeed that they carry

There has been no conclusive study that has determined that homosexuality is quite as deterministic as that. The most credible research currently is that the behavior is a combination of native inclination and environment. Environment can include parenting (or the lack of it, or poor/disappointing parenting), circumstances, and personal/social influences both positive & negative.

From a practical standpoint, it does make sense to me that inclinations are best either reinforced or discouraged at a very early age – rather than trying to reverse trends decades after the fact. As I’ve said on other threads, sexuality is somewhat in flux in the very young child; ALL of the scientific research supports that. The young child is open, vulnerable, & prone to experimentation. People who say they were “born” a certain way (straight or gay) are only speculating. They “remember” certain inclinations at some fixed point in time, but do not necessarily “remember” prior to that.

Wow and you got all this from watching a show on TV. I suggest you stay far away from the Discovery channel.

Check Your cathechism, it states it there.Homos are born that way thru no fault of there own & they are called to holiness, cant be, there are far too many of them throughout the world & thru out history. Since we are sexual beings , & they have same sex attraction, what are they to do as we already know sex is most important to most people many marriages fail because of sexual incompatability. what a poor reason for a marriage to fail> I dont believe God Made Homosexual beings & expected them not to engage in sex. As far as being called to holiness, they come from every culture what do they know of holiness, most of them. This is a crazy mixed up world, But I believe in God, I accept the teaching of the church with some reserve like most of us catholics do

What gave you the impression that I got this all from “watching a show on TV?” Did I not state clearly that I knew a little about Kinsey before watching this film? Also, in case you haven’t already noticed, I have the ability to read. I have read a lot about this man today and I am capable of forming my own opinions, whether you like it or not.

Furthermore, why don’t you actually contribute to this thread instead of giving me advice that I don’t want or need?

Exactly. The Kinsey report was produced and used to condone sexual behaviour that had long been oppressed and condemned. I actually think that the Kinsey report is the cause of sexual deviancy among many people. Kinsey didn’t just uncover unnatural sexual activity, he encouraged and caused it.

My bad. So watching a TV show followed by an entire day of research led you to conclude that:
The work of Kinsey was directly responsible for the sexual revolution of the 1960’s. His work was used to decriminalise [SIC]homosexuality and the creation of the no-fault divorce.
Not bad for a days worth of goggling. How many of Kinsey’s published papers did you actually read? I suppose Kinsey invented birth control and was also responsible for post WW2 prosperity.

Not bad for a days worth of goggling. I assume you mean using the google search engine? If that is what you meant, then yes you would be right in saying that I have used google to search for information. However, I have to ask, what is your reason for posting? You have contributed nothing of worth to this thread.

If you disagree with what I have wrote, please share your reasons and present your argument. Failure to do so will show me that you are unable to present your views in a logical and intelligent manner. If I have offended you, I make no apologies for doing so, and I will not change any of my views unless you can persuade me by presenting a sold argument.

Until you write something of value, I will not respond to your posts. This thread has not benefited from your presence, and I refuse to give you anymore attention. I will not feed a troll.

Methodi,

The Catechism states many things. It is not a scientific document. It is a moral/theological document. Big difference. I no more believe that sexuality is always determinant at birth than I believe that there are no inclinations at birth. Because a statement is in the catechism does not make it accurate from any scientific viewpoint. The bigger points are the moral & theological ones: that the person is lovable, made by God, etc., and the effects of whatever an orientation a person is regardless of the origins of that orientation. The same applies to heterosexuals regardless of the origins or their sexuality: they also have restrictions, limitations on the expression of that sexuality – not to mention straight consecrated religious & gay consecrated religious.

Throw away the catechism, its of no use.Again, as far as homos, they have a bad deal, being involved with them for years & questioning them on how they became that way. Many told me they had sex feeling toward same sex at a very early age. Also many told me, who would choose this life, it is a cross, they dont fit anywhere, so they naturally evolve to gay communities to live so they can be more themselves, with less ridicule from peers.Gay people are always on the outside looking in, its a terible cross to bear, many young men when they realize they are gay they commit suicide. I at one point lived the gay lifestyle, i was shunned by my heterosexual peers, I had no place to turn except where I felt like I had a feeling of belonging. This is indeed a cruel world
