If a person is reqired to acknoledge “Mohammed is Alla’s prophet” to reach salvatoin, then is it not fair to descrive Islam as Mohamadism?

The same could be asked of Catholics…do they not need to acknowledge that “Jesus is Christ” in order to reach salvation? If a person is reqired to acknoledge “Mohammed is Alla’s prophet” to reach salvatoin, then is it not fair to descrive Islam as Mohamadism?

Should it not be Jesusism? If we are using the same comparrison as in the OP.Yes… and that is why we are called Christians.

I think IMHO that in most cases when dealing with Islam people are trying to offend…Perhaps, but I would not be offended to be associated with the faith of Jesus regardless of what that faith is called. We should respect others wishes, but I think sometimes people are just trying to be offended (and some are trying to pick a fight).

You may be right, but I have seen enough posts where Muslims seem to be trying to offend Catholics on this forum as well. That is not to condone intentionally offending someone or their faith, but simply to point out it is not just Catholics or Christians seemingly trying to offend.I think IMHO that in most cases when dealing with Islam people are trying to offend…
Yeah I guess it goes both ways…You may be right, but I have seen enough posts where Muslims seem to be trying to offend Catholics on this forum as well. I can only speak for myself and my posts, i dont intend to offend any christians on the forum. I dont come with any intent to agitate or tick anyone off, nor to show hostility to anyones faith. However due to the nature of interfaith dialogue, when discussing one another’s faith, issues which we differ in will always be brought up and it might lead us to not like what the other is saying. But i think whats important is the etiquette and manners one employs in his/her posts. You may be right, but I have seen enough posts where Muslims seem to be trying to offend Catholics on this forum as well. Thats the tough thing about this forum. It is an exercise in patience to read things that are seriously abominous on both sides and remain civil. You may be right, but I have seen enough posts where Muslims seem to be trying to offend Catholics on this forum as well. Thanks Hashi,I can only speak for myself and my posts, i dont intend to offend any christians on the forum. Some posters sound offending mainly because of the tone they imploy in their posts. making sarcastic remarks, showing hostility to anothers faith, or just making rude comments, these are the kind of things that really have no place in any interfaith discussion. I think its a big waste of time on the posters part, and a bigger waste of time on the one replying back.
If you are basing your judgement on that, then why dont you refer to us as Noahans, Abrahamians, Mosesians, Jesusians, and other names of Prophets and Messengers? All muslims are required to accept them as prophets of God too. Thanks Hashi,
It still seems to me that we can describe, not call, Islam as Mohamedanism since it is required that al Muslims accept Mohammad as Alla’s prophet.
Thanks. Why doesn’t Muslims profess: “There is no God but Alla and Jesus is his prophet.”?If you are basing your judgement on that, then why dont you refer to us as Noahans, Abrahamians, Mosesians, Jesusians, and other names of Prophets and Messengers? Anyhow, if you wish to refer to Muslims as Muhammadans thats up to you. However, you wont find a single Muslim in the world that calls himself a muhammadan, and I think you will agree with me that we shouldnt make up our own labels on people but call them by what they call themselves. This is part of showing respect to one another.
What about ‘and Abraham is His Prophet’ or ‘Moses is His Prophet’ or any other of the many many prophets and messengers? The testification that Muslims make ‘There is none worthy of worship except God (Allah) and that Muhammed is the Messenger of God’ is because as i said earlier Muslims follow Muhammed’s teachings as we believe He is the final Messenger. And the one who makes this testification is automatically also acknowlegding the Prophethood of all the other Prophets and Messengers, because one cannot be a believer in God and the Prophet Muhammed if they do not believe in the previous Prophets.Thanks. Why doesn’t Muslims profess: “There is no God but Alla and Jesus is his prophet.”?
