I apologize for the late reply, as I do not come online everyday since I work and have other matters as well.
However, for the first verse, the translation you gave was ambiguous and was confusing me so I looked up the same verse on a couple other websites
Quran 8:39
You shall fight them to ward off oppression, and to practice your religion devoted to GOD alone. If they refrain from aggression, then GOD is fully Seer of everything they do.
Link
And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they cease, verily Allah doth see all that they do.
Link.
The context is written in that verse itself. To ward off oppression. Would you like to live under constant oppression.
For your next verse. This is the translation I got from the second link I provided just above.
Quran 5
116. And behold! Allah will say: “O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah.?” He will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden.
This is what God will ask Jesus on the Day of Judgement, but not because he knew, but to show the Christians that God, nor Jesus, ever said to worship Jesus as the Son of God (as per the Muslim Belief).
