What I don’t understand about Muhammad’s supposedly last words is exactly what prophets we can be said to have had to make idols of or whatever his point was? I thought it was a basic truism of Islam that all past prophets taught Islam, and hence they claim that Moses, Jesus, etc. were all Muslims. So what CHRISTIAN or JEWISH prophets were there for us to worship at the tombs of? According to Islam, none existed!

The death of Muhammad

The prophet of Islam died from an illness aggravated by poison. After his conquest of the predominantly Jewish city of Khaybar (or Khaibar) in AD 628, a Jewish woman offered him mutton (sheep) that she had poisoned.

Narrated 'Aisha: The Prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to say, “O 'Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison.” Volume 5, Book 59, Number 713:

There are hadiths that state that the Jew/Jews poisoned the meat to see if mohamad was a true prophet that allah would save him from the poison. Well, that didn’t happen.

But besides this, mohamads biggest concern was “gee, I have to switch wives every night so each one of them can take care of me”…!!!

Narrated 'Aisha: that during his fatal ailment, Allah’s Apostle, used to ask his wives, “Where shall I stay tomorrow? Where shall I stay tomorrow?” He was looking forward to Aisha’s turn.

So all his wives allowed him to stay where he wished, and he stayed at 'Aisha’s house till he died there. 'Aisha added: He died on the day of my usual turn at my house.

Allah took him unto Him while his head was between my chest and my neck and his saliva was mixed with my saliva. Volume 7, Book 62, Number 144:

He curses Jews and Christians for taking graves as places of worship:

Allah’s messenger ordered those closest to him to do three things, the first of which is to eject pagans out of the Arabian Peninsula. Volume 5, Book 59, Number 716:

Sura 9:5, coming late in Muhammad’s life, gives the pagans the “option” to convert. If not, they die by the sword.

Narrated 'Aisha:
When Allah’s Apostle was healthy, he used to say, “No prophet dies till he is shown his place in Paradise, and then he is given the option (to live or die).” So when death approached him(during his illness), and while his head was on my thigh, he became unconscious for a while, and when he recovered, he fixed his eyes on the ceiling and said, “O Allah! (Let me join) the Highest Companions (see Qur’an 4:69),”

I said, “So, he does not choose us.” Then I realized that it was the application of the statement he used to relate to us when he was healthy.

So that was his last utterance (before he died), i.e. “O Allah! (Let me join) the Highest Companions.” Volume 8, Book 75, Number 359:

Narrated 'Aisha:
I heard the Prophet and listened to him before his death while he was leaning his back on me and saying, “O Allah! Forgive me, and bestow Your Mercy on me, and let me meet the companions.” Volume 5, Book 59, Number 724:

To sum up this section, mohamad curses Jews and Christians;
he orders the pagans out of the Peninsula (or they could convert or die);
he yearns for the highest status in Islamic heaven;
and he begs Allah for forgiveness.

Okay this is what I got. During the debate between Deedate and Shoroosh, Deddat actually quoted the Quran. This is what he said: "When the truth is hurled against falsehood it shatters its brains and behold! Falsehood Doth Perish! "

Now check this out as he goes on:

"AH! woe be to YOU for the falsehood ye ascribe (to God). "

You see what happens when you curse! Though shall not put your God into test. Ahmed didnt only do that, but he cursed himself because he is the one with the falsehood, considering Islam cant refute Christianity. I do however hope is soul is in heaven.

in the view of muslims , we believe that the massage of all prophets including jesus and mosa (pbut) was to worship the God alone and submit to his commands
whatever . after the death of some prophets , the next generations of this prophet started to honor thiere tombs and through the time they sarted to pray to them and worship to them beside the God the creator whom is in heavin
in islam we can’t worship or pray or asking but the God , when we start to pray to anyone without allah even if it was our beloved prophet mohammed (pbuh) . it will be shirk / disbelieve
some of ignorant muslims and many of shiits make this sin . they worship and pray to graves of thier mullah which is major sin in the real massage of islam and the real massage of all prophets

I know kaaba isn’t a grave - I mentioned that because mohamad touched kissed the black stone and now your people do it. There is no difference.

I already have defined the word “worship” in so many threads. Regardless of what you say, you are in sence “worshiping”.

The reverent love and devotion accorded a deity, an idol, or a sacred object.

The ceremonies, prayers, or other religious forms by which this love is expressed.

And when Umm Salamah and Umm Habeebah told him about a church in which there were images, he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When a righteous man died among them, they would build a place of worship over his grave and put those images in it. Ascribing to Christians of idols worshipping and associating partner (shirk) with God is Islam major objection to Christianity. Despite the explanation that Christians give about permitting statues and Jesus as both divine and human in Christian’s churches and doctrine respectively, Muslims still see this as idol worshipping and shirk.

I can only say what had been said here – that they are hypocrites. To be fair, they are hypocrites without realizing they are. If they can justify the tombs and the Kaaba and understand clearly why they do, there is no reason they cannot understand Christian’s explanation either. They don’t and that’s the problem.

Or even more alarming, Mohammad/Muslims do not understand Christainity. This is obvious form what’s written in the Quran where there are many errors attributed to Christians and Jews and their belief.

I am wondering how it could be that Christians or Jews made any sort of shrine of any of their prophets’ graves if, according to Islam, all of the prophets that we take to have preached either religion were actually Muslims. Islam says that all of these men were in fact MUSLIM, so there are no Christian or Jewish prophets, are there? My question is not about what Muhammad meant when he supposedly said those words, but how those words could be reconciled with the basic belief in Islam that all past prophets were Muslims. If there are no Christian or Jewish prophets to begin with (because they’re all Muslims), then whose graves were we making shrines of? If the answer is just “the prophets” (meaning, the men of God who you claim the Islamic Allah has sent), then why did Muhammad apparently specify “Christians and Jews” as though there is a different set of prophets only for Islam (so, as though Islam is not the restoration of the ‘original’ religion of God, as it claims to be)? Didn’t Muhammad know what his own religion taught regarding this particular subject?

Islam claims that all the prophets of Judaism and Christianity were Muslims, i.e., they submitted to one God and reminded Israel of God. This claim would be true if Islam said that Moses and the prophets after him were the prophets of Judaism and Christianity, since Moses did remind Israel of God’s covenant when they worshipped a golden calf and the prophets that followed him did remind Israel of God when they turned to false gods, but, Islam claims that Noah and Abraham both believed in God and taught people about His existence - something which is historically unfounded, as well as absent in the Bible. So, by claiming all prophets are Muslims, Islam has committed a fallacy: generalization.

Benjamin, I’m not so sure that this is a contradiction. I’m sure there’s something about this issue that I am not understanding because I am not a Muslim, but based on what I have been told in the past by Muslims on this very board, it would seem that Islam is trying to tell us “You don’t have any prophets of your own, but if you did, you would make idols out of them, and that is wrong that you would do that and you will go to hell for it”. Obviously, that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense…

No, that is not what they say. They agree we had those prophets and from their point of view these prophets gave true examples of what it meant to be prophets of God. They (prophets) were Muslims because they submitted to God, the same God which they claim they worship now. Over the years Jews and Christians deviated from what the prophets had taught and even scandalized them by inserting in false stories about them. They believe all prophets were human (including Jesus). Especially for Jesus, Christians have put man to the level of God.

Their Mohammad was the last (the Seal) prophet that sort of confirm and summarize what the earlier prophets had revealed and corrected any falsehood over the years that had been fed in by the Jews and the Christians.
