Having once studied with them 25 years ago, I know their tactics well.
I dearly love to see them show up at my door. I see it as an opportunity to set them straight on whichever their “text of the day” happens to be.
KNOW your faith and you can move both mountains and jws.

Allow me to clarify. If one has possession of one of their bibles, then one can familiarize themselves with that version, and then compare that to whatever translation you wish, and ask them why does a verse says what it does. In other words, quote a verse from an authentic bible that you know is clearly altered in the NWT. When the NWT is pulled out by them and you both see that it is different from your own when you pull yours out, ask whose is right? They’ll go through all their gyrations to defend it, but in the end, they’ll lose all creditability. Why? They can’t tell you who translated it! The WTS won’t reveal the translators, although this info is know readily available on the internet.

The JW’s do not know the bible as well as some think they do. Look at some of the converts from mainline Protestanism such as Marcus Grodi or Scott Hahn, that did not know 1 Tim.3:15. These men were intensely trained at the university level, and they didn’t know this scripture! Why? Because they looked at the bible through their Calvinist glasses. Same thing with JW’s. So they do know their doctrinal teachings from their bible, but if one knows the bible even better and points to them some key verses that support the divinity of Christ, heaven for all, the Eucharist, etc. then at the very least a seed can be planted.
Thanks for this bit of information about who did the translating, did some googling and I found sources on this. One quick question, is this particular bit of knowlege something that would even bother a JW? I find in many cases when protestants are faced with inconvinent information they let it roll off their back as a simple “well that isn’t important to my salvation”.

First off pray to the Holy Spirit for guidance that your Mom will be able to discern what is true!

Next show them some key dates,…

AD. 325 Trinity defined
AD. 382 New Testament Canon

Ask your Mom to inquire how the Witnesses can accept ‘milk’ from what in their logic would be an already apostasized ‘cow.’
The Bible is God’s love story to mankind and it comes to us from the Church, not the other way around!

We must remember as Catholics we have Truth on our side!!! 👍

God Bless

Hi Jeanne, above is their advertizment for that book. It teaches soul sleep, and that there is no hell. The other topics are life issues like,
Ask yourself:
■Is this what God purposed for me and for the rest of mankind?
■Where can I find help to cope with my problems?
■Is there any hope that we will ever see peace on the earth?
The Bible can help you to deal with problems today, and it can provide relief by answering such questions as these:
■Why do we suffer?
■How can we cope with life‘s anxieties?
■How can we make our family life happier?
■What happens to us when we die?
■Will we ever see our dead loved ones again?
■How can we be sure that God will fulfill his promises for the future?
Has your mother been going through any life change period that she may need help getting though? If so, call on others her age or older in the church to walk by her side. Does your mother pray to/with Mary or Saints? ask her questions about that – she will see that their view of the after life is contray to Catholic doctrine.

Basically, they teach that the dead are asleep in the grave at this time. Jonah chapter two refutes this. It appears that Jonah was dead in the belly of the sea monster. And, while dead he called out to God from the grave or the pit – terms for death. They also, teach that the wicked will be destroyed or wiped out, no eternal punishment like Matthew 25:46 teaches.

Get hold of Dave Armstrong’s books and share them with her if she is interrested.
