What do you all think about a Catholic being a monarchist today, in this day and age? Does the Church say anything on that? thanks
Wanting a monarchy.Do you mean being a monarch?
Ooooh⦠with respect, I think this is a pretty big overstatement. Monarchs have caused massive damage, too (look at Henry VIII).Wanting a monarchy.
Iām all for it.
Everything wrong with morality today is brought about by Democracy. Everything wrong about the world economy today is brought about by Capitalism.
Or you can invite the pope to your coronation, and then snatch the crown out of his hands and put it on your head yourself, like our āpalā pictured below did:Why not? And have the Pope himself offer the coronation mass!
I know. But with monarchs if you have a benevolent one then you live in a good society. If you have a bad one, then you live in an earthly hell. With democracy, it seems that even if more of society are good people, if the few bad ones have the resources then they get what they want. Iām just comparing Holy Emperors of the Roman and Byzantine Empires here with what we have today. Just look at abortion and gay marriage. Most people donāt agree with it but the few who do have the power and control over the influence of society (such as media and politics) that they get what they want.Ooooh⦠with respect, I think this is a pretty big overstatement. I think itās actually sin that causes all the problems.![]()
Well, many in Canada really donāt care about the Queen anymore. They say the survival of the monarchy in Canada will depend on who the next monarch is. Prince Charles would probably move Canadians to get rid of the monarchy, while Will and Kate would probably make Canadians accept the monarchy for a while longer.Nothing wrong with monarchism! If youāre proud of your country, you should be more proud in your Monarch, in my case, the wonderful Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, along with all the other commonwealth realms!
I understand⦠I actually donāt have a very strong opinion on this one way or another. Too bad we canāt just always have a āsaint-kingā (better than a philosopher-king).I know. Yeah⦠and it got worse when our āpalā took the pope as prisoner.Anathema sit!
Itās a shame for the lack of care Canadians show for the Head of Stateā¦if they know sheās the Head of State.Well, many in Canada really donāt care about the Queen anymore. And what would you say about China?Wanting a monarchy.

The thing is with absolute monarchs (or dictators for that matter), youāre left to the whims of fate as to whether you get a benevolent one or a not-so-benevolent one.I know. But with monarchs if you have a benevolent one then you live in a good society. If you have a bad one, then you live in an earthly hell.
