Monitoring what people say?

In a class of mine I have a teacher who said that she isn’t teaching one side of a controversy as truth, but that she merely gives opinions.

But the opinions she offers are too well-argued and are not balanced by the opposite opinion and this can be especially annoying RE: her treatment of religion.

So do you think she is being too biased here? Do I have a duty to counter-argue?

I think I might just out of a sense of fairness but still, do I have to?

It is a little late in the Academic year for such a question to arise.
I hate to say it, but your main objective is to get a degree. You should learn that by making true statements or arguing or debating a professor can cost you dearly! In contemporary University situation, you may be right, but it will cost you your grades.
My suggestion is to keep your mouth shut and just spew back to the professor what they want on your examinations.
If you must say something, do it in private, not in class. If you can get no satifsaction in that way, I suggest dropping the course.

It depends on the class and how your participation is graded.

Back when I was in college, we did not have an expectation that our instructors would be unbiased. That seems to be a new definition in academia. But then again, we DID have an expectation that journalists would be unbiased and look where that went.
