Hello,

One time a friend told me about some monks that go to death metal (or, well, rock) concerts to reach out to people, that they had some skull with them or something…

Anyone heard of this?

PaX!

I think they are friars, not monks…Monks live in a monastery, I don’t think they go to rock concerts

But the Friars can mingle with the populace because they live among them…I think they possibly could be connected with FR Groschels Friars of the Renewal in Brooklyn…but I am not postive

I know some have a heavy metal band but I think they give concerts on their own, they don’t go to other peoples

It is a way to reach out to kids…You know Christ ate with sinners

There is a monk that sings metal, maybe this is what they were thinking of.

Brother Cesare is the lead singer in a heavy metal band which has just released its second album.
A former missionary in Ivory Coast, he lives in a small friary in the Milan hinterland.
The 62-year-old monk’s love affair with heavy metal began when he attended a Metallica concert some 15 years ago.

It’s not the CFRs, to my knowledge at least, and neither is Brother Metallo.
Well… Maybe my friend was just making stuff up?

Or the Holy Spirit speakin through him so that we can start an order that does that! HEH!

PaX.

Imagine that, though.
Monks or Friars dressed in black, with their hoodie on, holding skulls (memento mori) and a Crucifix outside a metal concert.
Heh!

Ok, paX.
