Monks Vs. Priests

I am not sure if I’m asking this question in the correct forum. Can a Monk celebrate mass? If so, how do we address him, as Father? Or do we call him by his first name?

Not all monks are priests, just as not all priests are monks. Those monks that are ordained as priests may celebrate mass. If not, then no, they cannot, although I seem to remember something about the abbot, who may perform certain functions of a priest (I may be way off on that, though).

Traditionally, all professed monks, priests or not, are addressed as Father, especially in the Eastern Churches. By the same token all Eastern professed nuns are Mother.

Keep in mind that Franciscans, Dominicans, Jesuits, and such, are NOT monks.

In the Western Church, only Benedictines, Cistercians, Trappists, and Carthusians are monks.

Some monks are ordained as priests and some are not. Those who are priests can celebrate Mass and the other sacraments.
