I would normally ask the pastor, but his plate is full.

I have an overabundance of blue candles. Is it appropriate to replace my green ones with blue in October since it is the month of the rosary and we honor Mary?

Ooops, should have been more clear. The candles are at church. They are the ones lit b the people for devotions.

I would always, always counsel you to ask the priest even if his plate is full. Leave a message or a note for him to find. It is better to do this, than to assume it would be okay and then find out later that it was not.

No one here on Catholic Answers forum is qualified to give you this answer, only the priest of your parish can.

Sounds like a wonderful idea and you already have the blue candles. I’ve never seen green vigil candles in church. Did your pastor put you in charge of taking care of the vigil candles? If so I do not see that it would be a problem. But it may be a good idea to run it by the pastor first.
 
Thanks for your answers. The associate pastor said to go ahead and do it.

I have clear globes and have a system called Renulite (re-new-light) they are colored plastic inserts (with the candles in them) I use green for ordinary, purple for lent, and so on…gold, red for the other seasons or feasts.

Old adage at work - It’s easier to get forgiveness than to get permission.

Don’t push that too far, but it works well for minor problems.

there is absolutely no requirement as to color of candles you choose to use at home.

use whatever candles the church has purchased for whatever use is intended. Altar candles should be white.
