I just read this and thought I’d share it with you all…

BLESSED MARY OF PROVIDENCE

Blessed Mary of Providence

The first whispering of grace of her special vocation for the Holy Souls in Purgatory happened at an early age. Two of many episodes that illustrate this are below:
Long ago a ray of this sublime understanding was given to a little girl playing in the summer fields and chasing butterflies. Awestruck and wondering, she paused, and after a long halt called to her companions. Childlike, she tried to explain in metaphors that strange enlightenment:
’If one of our friends was imprisoned in a house of fire,’ she said, 'how we should rush to her help. Then think how we should try to deliver the souls in Purgatory.'

Thoughtfully the little group listened. That child, as Mother Mary of Providence, was granted in after years a very real participation in the mysterious sufferings of Purgatory and the way she spoke of them made older people pause and listen.**

The second episode happened on the feast of All Saints, 1853, that Eugenie Smet received a stronger reinforcement of her special vocation to the holy souls. As she was praying with her head bowed down before our Blessed Lord in the Sacrament of His Love, the idea of an association of prayers and good works in behalf of the dead was rising distinctly before her eyes. But then came the doubt - was it God who was inspiring here with thought or was it the result of her own fancy? In unhesitating faith she determined to ask Our Blessed Lord, by some unmistakable sign, to give a token of His Will. If you want me to begin this work my Lord, make at least one of my friends, think of something and let her speak to me about it as soon as I come out of Church.
She slowly descended the long flight of steps of the Church to the village square, anxiously thinking over the prayer she had made. Her heart sank within her when she reached the bottom of the stairs and no one had spoken to her. But just at that moment a young girl at her own age, a great dear friend to hers, came forward and said,
"Dear Eugenie, I am so glad to have met you. During Benediction I had an inspiration. I thought of offering to join you in doing everything we can during November for the Souls in Purgatory. Have you indeed had that thought?"

The rest is history. On January 19 1856 she founded the Society of Helpers of the Holy Souls in Paris, France.

The day following the ceremony of beatification, on May 26, 1957, Pope Pius XII summarized, in a speech, the essence of the message left by Sister Mary of Providence:
"Whoever acts thus in a manner devoid of all personal interest and selfishness, and consecrates himself to the universal work of redemption, will know, like Mary of Providence, the suffering and the travail, but also the invincible security of those who are established on the strength of God Himself and await with humble confidence the hour of endless triumph:

In Thee, O Lord, I have hoped, let me never be put to confusion (Psalm 70: 1)."
The Father loves His dear ones in Purgatory.

Preparatory Prayer**

My Jesus, by the sorrow You suffered in Your agony in the Garden, in Your scourging and crowing with thorns, in Your journey to Calvary, in Your crucifixion and death, have mercy on the souls in purgatory, and especially on those that are most forsaken; deliver them from the torments they endure; call them and admit them to Your most sweet embrace in paradise, where You live with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Our Father

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace; the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Eternal Rest

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

Concluding Prayer

Merciful Father, hear our prayers and console us. As we renew our faith in Your Son, whom You raised from the dead, strengthen our hope that all our departed brothers and sisters will share in His resurrection, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

How to Pray the Rosary for the Souls of Priests in Purgatory

The first five decades are meditations on the Sorrowful Mysteries. The final decade is a meditation on the Lord’s Holy Wounds and Precious Blood.

Preparation Prayers
•Make the Sign of the Cross
•Recite the Apostle’s Creed
•Say:◦One (1) Our Father
◦Three (3) Hail Marys (for the virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity)
◦One (1) Glory Be

The First Decade
•Meditation:◦Lord Jesus Christ, through Your bloody sweat of fear that You shed on the Mount of Olives, we ask You to have Mercy on the Souls of Your Priests in Purgatory! Deliver them from their fear and pain and console them with the Cup of Heavenly Comfort!

•Say:◦One (1) Our Father {Large Bead}
◦Ten (10) Hail Marys {Small Beads}

•Instead of the Glory Be, conclude with:◦Lord, grant them Eternal Rest and let Perpetual Light shine upon them!

The Second Decade

The Fifth Decade
•Meditation:◦Lord Jesus Christ, through Your painful Crucifixion, which You suffered so patiently for us sinners, we ask You to have Mercy on the Souls of Your Priests in Purgatory! Turn Your Holy Face toward them and let them today be in Paradise with You!

The Sixth Decade

Heal their painful wounds and let them enjoy and participate fully in Your Salvation.

CHAPLET OF SAINT GERTRUDE

How to pray the Chaplet of Saint Gertrude

The Chaplet of Saint Gertrude is prayed on an ordinary Rosary.

Beginning at the Cross, pray the “Apostle’s Creed”.

This is followed by 1 “Our Father”, 3 “Hail Mary” and 1 “Glory be”.

Starting on the Medal and then on the 4 large beads between each decade (sets of 10 beads), pray the “Our Father.”

On each of the small beads (in the sets of 10 beads), say the following prayer:

"Eternal Father,
I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus,
in union with the Masses said throughout the world today,
for all the holy souls in Purgatory,
for sinners in the universal Church,
those in my own home,
and within my family.

Amen."
At the end of each set of 10 beads, say the following prayers:

“Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,
open the hearts and minds of sinners
to the truth and light of God, the Father.”

“Immaculate Heart of Mary,
pray for the conversion of sinners and the world.”

and 1 “Glory be.”

Then on the next large bead start again with the “Our Father”.
Repeat above to the end of the Rosary
