I know that the Moody Bible Institute is a non-denominational Evangelical school, but where to they fall in the Prot. spectrum?

I remember when I was a kid listening to “The Old Lighthouse Gospel Mission” produced by Moody Bible Institute. It is…or was some 30-40 years ago a very conservative evangelical institution.
The program gave a dramatization of a “conversion” story…how a man or woman had hit rock bottom in drugs or drink or immoral living and how they were “born again” and became new creatures in Christ. It was produced as an old time radio program with sound effects and actors…

They identify themselves as Evangelical in their affiliations, nowhere is there any reference to Cambellites or their descendent denominations. Here is a wiki bio of D L Moody, founder of the ministry that became Moody Bible Institute. I believe Karl Keeting speaks about the Moody Institute in his book: Catholicism and Fundamentalism as a source for some prominent Anti-Catholics. Id have to check to be sure.

I have a family member who went there and became a pastor. He’s not at all hostile to Catholicism and seems to run pretty conservative in many respects. I’m not sure if that’s just him or if that’s the type of people MBI produces.

Living outside of Chicago, I’ve met my fair share of Moody grads… almost all of whom I’d consider fundamentalist type Non-Denominational Chistians who might accept that a Catholic is a Christian, but it would be in spite of our faith, and never because of it.

They are at least partly anti-Catholic, I was fired by Moody Bible Institute in 2009 due to my “Confirmation as a Catholic.” I was not in a religious role, and that is a direct quote of the reason why I was fired (it’s been a hard year, still looking for work).
I attended MBI for four years, and then worked there for a little over nine years. They are not anti-Catholic like Jack Chick, Tony Alamo or others. D. L. Moody had been criticized for not encouraging “converts” to leave the Catholic church, and practicing Catholics have been enrolled there. They can be confusing because they are not affiliated with a particular church or denomination, two of their nine presidents were even Episcopal (Anglican) clergy (Bishop Culbertson and Father Gray). Note that they were on the low church, reformed side which downplays the sacraments. You’ve heard the term “Fundamentalist”? That comes in part from books written by a former president there, Pres. Torrey. They are broader than many current “Fundamentalists,” but the influence is still clear.
MBI is distinct from Moody Church (same founder), and is comprised of three main branches - Broadcasting (many Catholics listen and donate to their stations and programs), Moody Publishers (formerly Press) and the school/ seminary (undergraduate and graduate). The professors tend to be Calvinist, dispensationalist, pretribulational and premillenial. As I mentioned the employee population is diverse among Evangelical denominations - including Baptist (particularly Southern - like the bookstore on campus), Evangelical Free, Presbyterian, Assemblies of God, non-denominational, etc., etc. They are closely affiliated (theologically) with Dallas Theological Seminary in Texas.
