Having read a few different threads both on CAF and on other forums recently I’m a little confused about something and wonder if anyone on here can help.
I don’t wish to start a pro or anti Islamic flaming war, merely to try and get a question answered.
As far as I can tell from what I’ve read about the Quaran and the Islamic faith in general it seems that Muslims regard themselves as “People of the Book” (which as I understand it means that they see themselves as an Abrahamic faith, as we Catholics are, and are the Jewish faithful). This implies that they believe in the God of Abraham. I’m pretty sure that Muslims regard Christianity, and Judaism as “People of the book” too (I’m not talking about the obvious huge differences here such as relegating Christ the King to the status of a prophet here, nor wether Mohamed was a prophet or not, nor any other contentious issues/differences here, merely the Abrahamic aspect, which strongly implies that all three faiths agree on the same being as the creator of all, ie the person that we call God The Father, and the person that the Jewish faithful call G-d, both being the same deity with that islam calls Allah)
So, that all being what it is, my question is where does all this non-sense about Allah being a moon-god come from? Is this just anti-Islamic slur? Did the Church ever proclaim Allah to be a false “lunar-deity”? Also as an aside can anyone state how our Jewish friends regard Allah?
Thank you for any info you can give, please be respectful to other faiths.
God bless
