I’m thinking about getting either the swifter wet jet or clorox ready mop.

Any opinions??

I got a Pledge Grab-it mop several years ago…
But I prefer the Costco (Kirkland Signature) wet cleaning pads… which I can hook right on my Pledge mop…
The Costco brand is a better price and I actually prefer how thick the cleaning pads are…

So anyway… I don’t think which “mop” you get is important… because you can hook up different cleaning pads…

Hope that helps!

I know nothing about either of these, but I wanted to share what we use:

actnatural.net/

We only use water (no chemicals), and this mop gets our ceramic tile floors very clean. It’s actually really neat; I love this broom/mop combo!

We have the swiffer wetjet (I don’t know if there are newer models out there) but it has been pretty useless around here. I will use it once in a blue moon to do a quick clean up (just because we have it), but it doesn’t clean very well. It just seems to push things around (not like a broom, that is easier to make a little pile with) and does not scrub the floor like a mop. I dont know anything about the Clorox model.
I guess it really depends on what you want it for. I personally would not recommend it for cleaning, but for last minute “freshening up” it might work.

I have the Clorox Ready-Mop, and I’m pleased with the way it works. Once the cleaning fluid it came with ran out, I just started filling the bottle with plain tap water; that works just fine on my tile floors. The Swiffer WetJet requires batteries; I’m not sure what the batteries actually do. The Clorox mop has no batteries; there’s a trigger on the handle that makes the spray come out.

I used the swiffer for a short time and realized that they were pretty expensive and my old mop worked better at cleaning.

I just felt that as soon as the pad gets soiled, you are simply moving dirt from one place to the next with the swiffer ( and pad type mops).

I love my Swiffer. I used to have a wet jet, but now I have the Swiffer duster that you can put either the wet or dry cloths on.

I sweep with the dry cloth and then mop with the wet cloth. I love it-- easy. I buy the replacements at Sam’s, much cheaper than the regular store.

Maybe there’s a new Wet Jet model, b/c the one I had did not use batteries, you just squeezed and the liquid came out.

I just ran to the store… to price items…
The new wetjet models do require 4 AA batteries…

I still don’t know…

I don’t know if this helps, but the swiffer I have that I mentioned above takes 4 AA batteries too.

Here’s my humble opinion. Those mops are great for touch ups, or if you have to clean in a hurry. However, the heads and refil liquid are rather expensive. You have to use lots if you are using it as an acutal mop. If you have kids or pets, probably best to stick with a regular mop for “mopping day” and one of these for touch ups or quick cleaning needs. 👍

This is how I use the Clorox mop: I vacuum the floors first (tile floors), so I’m not expecting these mops to pick up lots of “stuff”. Only then do I use the mop (with plain water instead of the cleaning fluid).

It would be frustrating to use one of these wet mops without getting the “stuff” off the floor first. 🙂

No children here, just cats, so the floor doesn’t get too filthy. 😃

I don’t use a sponge mop… because I just end up tearing them up…. I don’t know if it’s because I scrub too hard or not… plus, the sponges can be a breeding ground for bacteria so I don’t bother… So when the floors need to be mopped I get down on my hands and knees and scrub with a rag and/or scrub brush; When I’m done I throw the rag into the wash and rinse and spray the scrub brush with some water/bleach…. Done.

Okay, so why the change? Well I started working part-time 3rd shift and find I don’t have the energy to get down on my hands and knees and scrub. I don’t want a sponge mop…

So that’s why I’m looking into the swifter wetjet mop or the Clorox ready mop; I’m just looking for a good and easier way (i.e. no hands and knees) to get my floors clean.

The reason I’m drawn these mops is because you throw the pad away once you are done cleaning. Although the price of having to get new pads every time does add up.

Any other suggestions?

The Method OMop (available at Target) has a washable Mop Head, keeping you from having to buy special disposable mop pads. Also, the sweeper clothes are biodegradable. They make a special cleaner for wood floors, but the all-purpose cleaner is ok for wood floors as well.

As I have all carpet, I cannot give you my personal opinion, but I have heard nothing but good things! And I have never been disappointed in Method products

I took this:

I was at my mom’s house, and she had this nifty mop from Libman called the Wonder Mop! It is absolutely the best mob I’ve used for light every day mopping. You can even throw the mop heads in the wash!!! And even wet it’s not heavy - which I can totally appreciate for my crummy back.

From my post on this thread: forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=155647

Lots of great ideas there as well!

I grew up with rag mops, and they’re still in my opinion the best cleaners out there. I use the O’Cedar twist 'n mop:

I’ve tried the Swiffer products, but they’re just not capable of managing the dirt I have to deal with here. The only carpet I have in my house is the baby’s room which is a very small space, all the rest of my home is hardwood floors, and I need something sturdy to handle the area I have to clean. I’ve tried the Libman Wondermop too, but I’m more impressed with results I see from the O’Cedar twist 'n mop, it’s just able to pick up more filth than the wondermop does. And I love that I can stretch it out when I’m done, and the mop will dry out. The wondermop does not dry out as quickly as the O’Cedar does. I use the kitchen trash bin as my water bucket, and then I get the bonus of having a clean kitchen trash bin as well as a clean floor.

I was disappointed with my Swiffer the first time I used it.
