Moral Dilemma - please help!

Just say someone was doing something evil to someone you love and the only way to help this person is by doing something that upsets these evil-doers…what would you do?
I’m new to the faith & aware that Jesus says “Do not repay evil with evil”
However I need to help the person I love and what I want to do is not very evil, but will anger these people…
Im in a bit of a moral dilemma

It’s hard to say without knowing what evil is being done, and what you plan on doing about it…

I mean the Church says it’s certainly okay to use such things as self defense. If someone was physically hurting someone you loved, you are permitted to take any means necessary to stop them, even possibly to death depending on the severity of the situation as it’s taking place… So depending on what your talking about, there may definitely be room for action, but not always. For example, just because someone makes up nasty rumors about you behind your back, doesn’t mean you have the right to do the same to them… So again… all comes down to the specific situation.

However, there’s no proscription against making people angry. Speaking the truth (in love, of course) can make people angry. Making people angry is not necessarily a sin, though it could be depending upon the act.

Agreed. It really depends on the situation. If your sister is abusing your nieces and nephews, and calling CPS will make her angry, tough for her. You can do it anyway. Calling CPS isn’t always wrong.

If your classmate is spreading rumors about your best friend, and the only way to stop her is to spread rumors about her, you can’t do that. Spreading rumors is always wrong.

Thanks heaps, that has clarified things a lot for me, the Church allows us to defend ourselves, we don’t just have to sit back and allow people to walk all over us…oh good.
I thought perhaps because Jesus was persecuted and never said a word against them that we are to do the same thing when someone sins against us.

Read Acts 7. After St. Stephen’s great discourse, “…they were enraged, and they ground their teeth against him.” Being Christian means that we won’t always be well-liked.

In bringing Communion to the home bound we encountered a suspicious situation involving possible elder abuse. We notified the proper authorities. There was some carelessness but no real abuse. The people were pretty mad at us, but it was what had to be done. Danger to others can not be ignored.
