In some ways doesn’t this hypothetical moral dilemma match the very real one that St. Maximillian Kolbe found himself in in Auschwitz? It seems to me that his example of what to do could provide all of us with the appropriate answer. The right moral thing to do isn’t always the easiest and doing the right thing may cost us more than we’d like to give up.
