Does anyone know much about the show “Moral Orel”? I recently became interested in it because it was recommended as a satire of Fundamentalist Evangelicalism. (Side note: I’m concerned about Fundamentalism and believe that there isn’t enough being done to oppose it.)

But after some reading about the show I don’t think I actually want to watch it (well, accepting a few Youtube clips that I watched already) because it appears to me that the “satire of Fundamentalism” is pretty weak, and mainly just used as **vehicle **for peddling a lot of lowest-common-denominator entertainment.

Can anyone either confirm or deny that? (Or, for that matter, recommend an alternative?)

Moral Orel is a crude satire of Davey and Goliath. It’s essentially South Park with claymation. Unless that kind of raunchy humor is your cup of tea I’d avoid it.

Can confirm. Where Family Guy and even South Park would at least have some witty social commentary, Moral Orel is just a garbage show that happens to use Christians as the “Sven and Ole” of its crude jokes.

Fun fact: Davey and Goliath was a Lutheran-funded and produced show and fittingly ended with “A Mighty Fortress” playing while the credit rolled over Luther’s seal. The credits were not included when the series played on the CatholicTV channel. It’s ok. Catholics have been using Lutheran ideas for centuries. 😛

It is a tv show.

People on here fear tv shows

I get it and support it for children (the fearishness that is)

Moral Orel was on Adult Swim… for adults

If TV will rock your faith and morals…

Work on your faith and morals…

Who says it’s fear? Why give any part of our precious time to low quality junk shows?

Don’t fear it at all. I happen to find crude humor amusing in certain situations. Moral Orel is funny if you go in understanding what it is, biting satire of Fundamentalist Christians and their views/values. If you’re ok with seeing that made fun of, it can be funny. If you’re offended by people who mock fundamentalist Christians, then it won’t be your cup of tea.
