Basketball?Judging by your post you are the ones who talk “funny”.
By the way I notice that America has no major sport that originated in America. Ah well!

Hey if your pitcher gets taken yard so much that batters are standing and watching thier balls to “show up your pitcher” maybe a little shame will motivate them to throw better. But then again a pitchers ego is a fragile thing, like butterfly wings. Never known a pitcher that wasn’t a head case.Hey, if a batter shows up my pitcher by standing at the plate and watching a Homer go out of the park, or if he crowds the plate (my pitcher OWNS those 17 inches!) he’s gonna get brushed back.
Dude, even Sandy Koufax gave up over 200 homers over his career! Give them a break!Hey if your pitcher gets taken yard so much that batters are standing and watching thier balls to “show up your pitcher” maybe a little shame will motivate them to throw

I caught dozens of pitchers from the age of 10-11 through college and truer words were never spoken!Never known a pitcher that wasn’t a head case.
The difference is that when a pithcer wins (the game at the plate) and strikes a guy out, the batter doesnt (usually) throw a bat at the mound to brush them back.Dude, even Sandy Koufax gave up over 200 homers over his career! Give them a break!

I may be wrong, but I believe LaCrosse is from somewhere in the Hispanic world??? Really not sure, just thought I would give you something to think about.
Hockey? Over the years the NHL has cracked down fighting. If fighting is immature and unsportsmanlike, then the current trend in hockey actually shows that the sport is maturing and increasing in sportsmanship. The difference is that when a pithcer wins (the game at the plate) and strikes a guy out, the batter doesnt (usually) throw a bat at the mound to brush them back.Maturity, and sportsmanship is missing from sports these days, from fights in hocky to (alleged) rapists winning NBA titles. Time for someone to just Man it up and play hard and accept the outcome.
In baseball, when a batter is hit by a pitch, he is awarded first base. However, the rule is that the batter must try to get out of the way of the ball in order to be awarded first base. The problem is that there is no way for the umpire to judge whether or not a batter really attempted to get out of the way when the ball is coming at 90 mph. My situation is that if you are the batter, and you see that the ball is going to hit you, and you decide not to get out of the way because you know the umpire will let you go to first base. Is that cheating or is that just letting the umpire make the decision?
Hispanics? I’d like to hear that story. Doesn’t lacrosse come from Native Americans?I may be wrong, but I believe LaCrosse is from somewhere in the Hispanic world??? Really not sure, just thought I would give you something to think about.

You know you could be right. I just remember the first time that I watched it professional lacrosse, I was in Miami, FL and the players were mainly from South America, or Latin countries. Now that has been some time ago, and you know the brain if not used. It was not a sport I liked, I just went with a friend. I will investigate this further and report to you. OK??![]()
Wikipedia says: Lacrosse was invented by Native North Americans. Its name was dehuntshigwa’es in Onondaga (“men hit a rounded object”), da-nah-wah’uwsdi in Eastern Cherokee (“little war”), Tewaarathon in Mohawk language (“little brother of war”), and baaga`adowe in Ojibwe (“knocking about of balls”).[7]OK, YOU ARE SO RIGHTI have looked this up and I am never going to talk about sports again (lol). You are soooo Right, it did start as a Native American Game, but in answer to an earlier question…if it started as an early Native AMERICAN game, then could we not claim this as an “American Sport”??? One that was invented here??
Basketball was based on a game that originated in Canada.Basketball?

If you can really provide evidence that basketball is merely an evolution of “duck on a rock” I might buy it. But come on, we’re human, we don’t have any truly original thoughts. That Canadian game might have been one of Dr. Naismith’s (also a Canadian) influences, but that doesn’t mean basketball is based on it. You might as well say that basketball is based on picking peaches.Basketball was based on a game that originated in Canada.

Sorry for going on topic so much. Here’s an attempt to turn back.
An interesting twist on the original question might be to look at brush back pitches. Is it morally acceptable for the pitcher to purposely throw inside of the strike zone to make the batter uncomfortable? I have to say yes as long as the pitcher isn’t intentionally trying to hit the batter. One caveat would say to keep it below the shoulders: an inside fastball across the chest tells a batter to back off but an inside pitch across the jaw is provoking a fight. This is also assuming the pitcher has the necessary control to throw such a pitch.
OK now, my opinion, but from the baseball I have watched, this sounds totally fair and morally acceptable. I thought this was just the way the game was played. Guys sports are way more complex, than a simple cheer coach can deal with at times. I know the basic rules and totally focus on the game, when my child is playing or when I do not have coaching responsiblities of my own. This just seems to be the way of it. Does this make sense??

You obviously haven’t met some of the English ladies!!You keep inventing them… We will dominate the ones we like, in our spare time between being the toughest, richest, fairest and busiest country in the world… (just to bad we can’t be the Holiest)
In the mean time I’d like to see one of those ladies you speak of take a 90+ MPH (that a whole lot of KPH for you euro folk) to the head, face, shoulder, back gut or heaven forbid chest.
