An article from a couple years ago, but still relevant:

My comments:
This is only a stepping-stone for these kids, before they grow up and become devout adherents of the real religion of America, which is Political Correctness. This is borne out by the following passages from the article:
The most damning pronouncement which can be made towards anything or anyone in this odd system of beliefs is “I find that very offensive!” Once this dread sentence has been passed upon an individual, there is no hope of redemption or salvation outside of his complete and utter social destruction, as evidenced by the many media, academic, political, and entertainment people who have made statements which placed them Beyond the Pale. Once sentenced, it is expected that they must apologize for their convictions, publicly grovel for forgiveness, and be stripped of all dignity, authority, and means of support whatsoever. “Offensiveness” is literally the only mortal sin in the entire PC cosmological makeup. Everything else—adultery, abortion, fornication, theft, even murder—can be explained away with the usual mantras of “self-fulfillment” or “a victim of an un-nurturing environment”.
In the end, PC is, ironically, none of the things which its three gods claims to be. It is not Tolerant, for it will brook no deviation from viewpoints other than its own; it is not Diverse, because it demands complete, iron lockstep with the current liberal Groupthink; and it is certainly not Multicultural, since entire segments of human population—such as devout Christians—are arrogantly dismissed as “bigotted”. It is also not a compassionate or merciful, forgiving religion, but a rather cold and ultimately cruel one, considering the number of careers it has shattered. Frankly, (IMHO) Political Correctness might very well be the ultimate death of this nation.

PC worships a triune god: Tolerance, Diversity, and Multiculturalism, most often manifested by a driving desire to never, ever, “offend” anyone, for whatever reason whatsoever. Thus, they recoil from viewing anything as “wrong” or “perverted”. Deviant homosexuality is “normal”; radical Islam is “the expected reaction of people who have been oppressed for too long by the West”; and any form of true committment to the Christian Faith which causes abrasion or conflict with the current PC Groupthink is “intolerant”, “bigoted”, or (incredibly) “un-Christian”.In the end, this study indicates that American teenagers are heavily influenced by the ideology of individualism that has so profoundly shaped the larger culture. This bleeds over into a reflexive non-judgmentalism and a reluctance to suggest that anyone might actually be wrong in matters of faith and belief. Yet, these teenagers are unable to live with a full-blown relativism…These individuals, whatever their age, believe that religion should be centered in being “nice”–a posture that many believe is directly violated by assertions of strong theological conviction.
