Over the years, I have had a strange fixation with the toilet. I believe that the fixation started when I had difficulty to motivate myself to sit on the toilet for toilet use when I was younger, probably since I am autistic.

However, in recent years, I believe that this fixation has evolved for the worse. Some examples include:
  • Viewing pictures of people, especially women, either half undressed on the toilet or implying that they are half undressed (in case of non-full body shots)(from sites such as Flickr and stock photography sites).
  • Viewing videos of people, especially women, half undressed on the toilet or implying that they are half undressed (in case of non-full body shots), and/or using the toilet (from sites such as YouTube and other video sharing sites).
  • Reading and/or posting about one’s and/or another person’s bathroom habits and/or experiences (there are websites that allow a person to do this).
  • Photographing and/or videotaping oneself using the toilet.
  • Taking pictures of oneself’s bodily waste (possibly for medical or nutritional purposes).
  • Having a web-chat with someone while using the toilet.
Note that the websites that allow you to do these things are “non-pornographic” websites. To my knowledge, the Catechism of the Catholic Church does mention that pornography is “the display of intimate real or simulated sexual acts to a third party” (CCC 2354), although I am not sure if toilet usage is considered as a sexual act.

Any advice, feedback, resources, and prayers would be greatly appreciated. Furthermore, I would especially like feedback about the degree of such activities involved (i.e: whether it is a venial sin or mortal sin).

FYI … We have a lawyer in town who had a camera set up in his office’s bathroom. The case went to court and it was in the local paper quite a bit. My mom said that he was disbarred and is in prison. Mortal sin.

That would fall under the category of Fetish. It is my understanding that its purpose is sexual titillation.
Whether or not you are relating to it sexually (and the part about half-dressed women makes me believe you do) it is still obsessive. If you are ashamed of it and wouldn’t want your family to know you do this, then you probably realize it’s not healthy.

Seek professional help. I’d agree that this is an abnormal fixation.

It’s a fetish of some sort, it is abnormal as someone said and you should seek to get help for it in all sincerity, but be wise about what kind of help you get.

Cheers mate.

Get some big pictures of Jesus and put one on the wall behind the toilet and the wall in front of the toilet and maybe one on the back of the bathroom door. Then when you are in the bathroom concentrate on prayer instead of whatever you usually think of.
