Is killing a baby fine but cutting down a tree wrong?

At the risk of getting myself into a mess I really don’t want to be in…

I am assuming this is meant as a criticism of leftists who are pro-abortion and also environmentalists. If you are speaking of something else, I apologize.

I listen to quite a bit of Left-leaning political radio, and am something of a long leftist myself. Here are a few quick reflections:
  1. No one I am familiar with on the Left advocates killing babies. They do not define a fetus as a baby, and so cannot be said to advocate, from their definitional perspective, killing babies and not chopping down trees. Now, the fact that we disagree with that definition and think their definition is faulty is not material. They do not advocate killing babies, per the definition they use.
  2. The only time I have heard a hubbub over cutting down a tree was when the tree was over 5,000 years old.
It’s been 20 minutes. This is hilarious
Also, some people can only respond on breaks because they are at work. Or they are asleep because it is night where they are. 20 minutes isn’t that long a time to wait considering that.

Some people have to wait hours or days for a response. 20 minutes is nothing, and raising a stink about it is beyond immature.

That’s not remotely true for a morality 101 question.

You have heard of the Amazon synod right?

Killing a baby is wrong. Killing a tree is not. This is not difficult.

Okay but to speak of the successor of Saint Peter in such a rude way is inappropriate.

Pope Francis has spoken out, often, against the evils of abortion.
You are being disingenuous and breaking forum rules with your agenda posting.

Doesn’t matter who the Pope is.
People who believe life starts at conception believe abortion is evil. Sadly, there are many who do not believe a fetus is a “child”, so abortion is ok.

I think both are wrong, but God forgive me, in some cases might be necessary.

Nope, no cases. The only possible case would be an ectopic pregnancy or a case where the mother has a sudden medical crisis and the only possible way to treat the crisis would be removal of say the fallopian tube (where the ectopic pregnancy usually occurs) or in the treatment of say sudden cardiac arrest the treatment itself bringing on a premature labor when the child was too young to survive outside the womb. But never a direct abortion. Never. In the cases above, the child’s death is always secondary. And the reason to do the treatment is that without it, the mother would die and thus the child as well.
