The only reason I want to take a summer class this summer is so that I won’t have to deal with eco and government next school year.So basically it’s like 8 weeks of school as opposed to about 37 weeks of school.

And this would be a moral issue…why?

There is no moral issue here.

This is an academic issue-- and you do the same work, it’s just compressed.

I guess it kind of feels like I’m cheating the system/ being lazy or something, but I guess it’s ok so I’ll go for it. Saves time:D !

Watch out! You’ll be addicted. Those 8 week classes are refreshing!

I cannot STAND 16 weeks of school. It’s ridiculous. Excepting a language or a science, it’s a complete waste of time. I’m spoiled from taking 8 week classes.

Summer school is not a moral issue. Exercise your prudence and do what you think best.

Summer school better not be immoral because I’m a college counselor and I’ve been registering students left and right!!!

What! You can’t do that man, that is totally cheating! There are countless kids everywhere that would love to do that, but you are being selfish! Cancel ASAP!

It is not cheating because the school sysem, which has the authority to award credit for a class, has agreed to award this credit for a summer class. Cheating is when you obtain something contrary to the rules. In this case, you are following the rules. It’s not lazy either, just more efficient perhaps. Being efficient is not the same as being lazy.

I’m in high school, and wish I could go. People say it costs $100s of dollars though.

How is it lazy? You realize that you’ll be cramming the same amount of work into half the time, right? It would only be cheating the system if you were doing it to avoid the required coursework.

I have been going to graduate summer school for years. It is a heck of a lot more work than a 13 week semester because you don’t have the time to do all the reading. I start reading for summer school in April. Also be prepared for many many late nights at the library and doing papers.

I’ve taught a summer course like that. Trust me, you’ll do all the work. Don’t make a lot of other plans for your “free” time! You won’t have much! 😃

Well I’ve heard that summer school where I go is* very* easy but I guess I won’t know until I get there.

It may be that these courses are not terribly rigorous, even during the regular school year. If it isn’t as rigorous, the main person cheated is you. If you have more time to devote to your other courses during the regular year, though, you may well learn more than you would have otherwise.

As far as “cheating the system”, if you do what the school requires to get the credits required to graduate, you may do it in any way that they approve. It doesn’t cheat anyone else.
