How can a civilization develop a moral consensus on anything given the commandments of God?

Q: Who decides what is moral?
A: God and only God. No discussions. No consensus. No exploring of alternatives. What ever God says, goes.

Q: Who decides if a person’s actions are immoral?
A: God and only God. No witnesses. No testimony. No pleading special circumstances. No grey areas. If God decides you are immoral then you are. Even if you have no idea what you did wrong.

Q: Who decides and implements the punishment for immorality?
A: God and only God. Once you die then off to heaven or hell you go. No plea bargaining. No rehabilitation. No appeals. Just eternal punishments for finite actions.

Q: Is it possible for morality as we know it to exist given a god?
A: Absolutely not.

Striving to reach God’s virtue makes us all better. He will teach us to love one another as He loves us.

How can a civilization develop a moral consensus on anything given the arbitrary commandments of men?

Man and only man. Whatever man says goes!

Man and only man, etc…

Man and only man, etc… Once you die you’re finished so you can do what you like while you’re alive!

Is it possible for morality as we know it to exist given man, the measure of all things? Absolutely not - it’s a crazy free-for-all! 😉

Strange. I didn’t think anyone would agree with me. Thanks.

Don’t mention it! I’m delighted you agree that morality without God is clearly a case of wishful thinking and self-deception… As one contributor to this forum pointed out, aversion to torturing a child is mere “sentimentalism”. 😉
