Why were the Israelites authorized to commit so much murder and possess slaves only to acquire territory? Did they feel any guilt? Because they claimed that God told them to kill. As long as you can claim God’s imprimatur on your motives, you don’t have to feel any guilt?

On polygamy and who made the rules. Why wasn’t it considered immoral during certain periods?

Not all killing is murder. A soldier can kill if he has been authorised to do so by his nation. If that were not the case, how many American citizens would be murderers, after the USA seem to get involved far too often in disputes by military means?

The Israelites received authority from God to do so and His authority is higher than any government. Those nations that were destroyed in the path of the Israelites had rejected the one true God and had turned to idolatry, which is deserving not just of death, but eternal death.

It was considered immoral but it was permitted during a certain period of time. God obviously intended for marriage to be between one man and one woman. He made Adam and Eve, not Adam, Eve, Jane, and Carol. I don’t remember ever seeing God encourage polygamy in the Bible.
