I hate to be a Malachy theorist, but this one caught my eye.

“On the right is the personal coat of arms of Archbishop Levada. These arms are composed with the three main colors of the Portuguese flag: red, gold (yellow) and green. The olive tree is taken from the arms of the Oliveira family, from which the name of Levada is derived.”

So if Levada is the Olive, Pope Benedict can be the glory 😃

I still see “glory of the olive” as being attached to an effort of peace…if our Pope works hard for peace and unity, then he is extending an olive branch…which would truly be the glory of the olive–imo.

The world will end July 27, 2014. Now that we know, let’s drop all the St. Malachy prophecy talk. The prophecies are bogus.

I never said they weren’t. I was just saying that this is interesting.

God can even use the bogus to draw his faithful more intimately into his church.

Wow! Maybe the appointment was providential after all.

This is probably a really far stretch but in in the apparitions of Mary at Fatima, Sr. Lucia said that Mary told her "“In Portugal, the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved; etc…” I’ve always wondered what exactly that means. I’m sure it is referencing Portugal itself and is not symbolic of one who has the colors of the flag of Portugal on their coat of arms, but I still had to pause for a minute when I heard about Cardinal Levada’s Portugal connection.

Isn’t it interesting that our new Pope sent an OLIVE BRANCH to the Protestants of France:hmmm:

Franze,

I don’t see anyone here trusting in prophecies…we trust in God (imo). Now, if prophecies come from God, and we do not trust them, what does that say about our trust in God?

Because, Catholic prophecy is not part of our faith.

Malachy prophecies are official? no, well then.

Franze,

Exactly, no one here (that I can see) is trusting in the Malachy propehcies…the Malachy prophecies are being discussed, not trusted…big difference there.

We don’t “trust” in prophesies. We trust in God, and the church. We WATCH prophesies, because then when those that are of Go come true, we can praise him for having given them to us.

Its not about us. Its about Him. All creation, praise and exault him above all forever.

bones1v,

Approved apparitions are not a required belief, yet if the Church approves a given apparation, then imo it is folly to flat-out ignore those messages.

Of course. I myself give no credence to the Malachi prophecy, because many church authorities doubt the authenticity of this prophecy. To give it authentication is unreasonable.

bone,

I agree, there is no reason to give the Malachy prophecies any authentication…they are merely interesting…nothing more.
