Mass more often? Adoration? Genuflection before the tabernacle, not just a bow? Frequent confession? BOO-YAH! No wonder the liberals have their knickers in a knot over this guy. Such hatred and rage being directed against our bishop is a beautiful thing. Means he’s doing his job. 😃

Just wait until this young bishop, ordained after the Council, celebrates the TLM publicly for the first time. That’ll drive some of the libs right over the edge. Can’t wait. :yup:

Blessed are you when men hate you and revile you for my sake

This then will be a truly blessed Bishop.

From the Bishop’s Charge to the Faith Formation Commission
The same or similar needs will remain, but some other factors have changed: 1) The financial resources and priorities require us to accomplish our responsibilities with a different and less costly configuration of staff. 2) It is also true that we are in a time of a more mature self-understanding in the Church, than the period immediately following the Second Vatican Council. 3) We are in an era of Catholic education and formation that is now clearly dominated by the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Catechism, first promulgated in 1992, must be the primary reference point for all catechetical endeavors. The recently promulgated Compendium of the Catholic Catechism, soon to be available in English, will provide a particularly handy and less cumbersome instrument for utilizing the Catechism, and recognizing its essential elements.

This is a holy man and we should all keep him in our prayers.

Yes, I am. I can assure you that Bishop Finn may have a love of the TLM, but that he fully recognizes and supports the Pauline Mass.

Actually he has most of the more conservative folks upset because he supports and elevates the importance of the laity in the Church’s ministry. Now he has ticked off some the left wing nutzo’s, thankfully, but I don’t think you can see him attempting to return the Church, in any way, to a pre Vatican II existence.

I could add a few so-called ‘liberal’ bishops to your list if you’d like.
The quote says My sake, meaning God almighty and his Holy Church. It does not say for the Worlds sake, meaning the bishops whom we also love but must find their way home.

HE was the main reason I was so happy to move to this diocese! Unfortunately his ideas haven’t trickled down to all the parishes yet, but I’m hoping that will be remedied soon! 👍

Welcome home Bombay, good to see that you are still fighting the good fight. We’ve missed your eloquence onthis forum for too long. I trust that school is going well.

The Bishop over there in KC sounds good. Maybe it is a sign of the times and soon the liberal forces will be beginning the long march back into the mists and haze of relativism and secular humanism:thumbsup:

We can only hope…

I can’t express how glad I am to see this thread! Everything I have read about Abp Finn makes me want to cheer. But I’m short of facts. have a lefty friend in KC (not my diocese-mine is worse than KC ever was) who goes on and on about Finn’s canning the chancellor. Can anybody tell me what that was all about? The guy was there for some long period of time; 20-30 years or something. Why was he dismissed?

There was some kind of mission in La Paz, Bolivia that was being supported, at least in part, by the diocese. Then Abp Finn cut its funding by about 2/3. The man (I think he’s a priest) who runs it threatened to “go public” and raise a huge stink, and the funding was restored, but is perhaps still going to be cut off. I’m tempted to think it is one of those “liberation theology” outfits, but I don’t know. I can’t remember the name of the guy who runs it; something like Galatin or something like that. What was that all about?

I can imagine why Finn cut off that “lay ministry” program. First, he wanted to emphasize vocations over lay ministry, and that’s fine. But I can’t help believe there was more to it than that. What’s the story on that? Was it into secularization? Womens’ ordinations? What?

Sorry to be such a bother, but I really would like to know some of the details of all that. Can anybody help me with it?

Just looked up the Bolivia mission thing. Gilgannon is the priest’s name; Michael Gilgannon.

Also, the vice-chancellor, who I think was a nun, was also fired.

I can easily imagine why all these things happened. But I would like to really know. Again, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, palmas. But the post you’re responding to is over a year old. Nevertheless, my brilliance and wisdom tends to transcend time, does it not?

It’s a sign of something, but just what I’m not sure yet. All I know is, the good bishop has appointed himself pastor of the exclusive Traditional Latin Mass parish (no novus ordo, ever) that he established last year. And he’s been talking (dialoguing) with those terrible, heretical  SSPXers who, oh by the way, happen to have their North American Headquarters right here. I can read a sign quite well. And it’s certainly not a sign of a bishop who dismisses “pre-Vatican II” as something to be derided and avoided like a plague.

And no, school is not going well. Midterms next week. Biology. Evolution. Puke. :nope:

Take a gander at this article. It’s an e-mail from a resident of the KC diocese who was in the trenches during the Dark Years.

The chancellor and vice-chancellor were fired because the bishop wanted priests in those positions, not a layman and a nun. What a startling concept.

Nice to see your post good Doctor.

Here in Wichita, we now have the TLM every Sunday now !

Plus Ukranian DL every Sunday too !

I am assisting my fiancee at the NO mass on Sunday’s till Easter.
It is a HUGE and Orthodox parish thanks to my attendance and regular pontifications via my own section in the Sunday bulletin.

Cool! Anybody else here in Kansas City?
I wish I was! I love Kansas City. In fact, I’ll be there on business next week. This Bishop gives me one more thing to love about KC.

We’ve still got several wayward parishes; one I can think of off the top of my head involves glass chalices, pop music psalms, morally relativistic homilies, inclusive language, hidden tabernacle, and generalized irreverence of the mass and the Eucharist.

But his excellency is kicking some butt! 👍

St. Anthony’s is weekly now instead of monthly on TLM? COOL!!
Is Bishop Gerber still celebrating there frequently? My first TLM was by the good Bishop. I do miss Wichita. Sigh.

Hopefully Bishop Finn will start rooting out the problems in this diocese. Seems like he’s starting from the top down now, but I want something done on a parish by parish level. Let’s get 'em all in line!
