More must be done to include women in church bodies, pope says

Women already run my parish and have for years.
This is true of all parishes in my diocese.
I look and keep track of that 👀

Furthermore
Whenever a man allows historical thematicity to gain the ascendancy over truth, he ceases to be in a healthy relation to the truth. He is no longer a real seeker after truth. At the least he is in danger of slipping into the grip of historical relativism. And the power that certain ideas have in an historical moment may induce him to believe that compromise with them will create an opportunity for the victory of Christ.

Too many Catholic women have been galloping along side this movement in history.

I don’t understand why you linked to the women’s march page either. This has nothing to do with trump or the women’s march. You didn’t even link to an article. I first thought your link led to the source of your quote but it doesn’t.

And what is ‘historical thematicty’? I assume it is a spelling error but I’m not sure what it should be.

Some people will understand why I include that link.
Some won’t understand.
Some will understand and not want to believe.

I leave what I share for interpretation.

That quote is by Dietrich von Hildebrand. I corrected the spelling adding an ‘I’.

Essentially, it’s as I said—a non sequitur that contributes nothing to any discussion about the actual link.

I thought this was interesting:

“The pope warned against the “clericalization” of the laity…”
(End quote)

In my diocese the priests and sisters too often act like laity, and certain laity act like annointed or ordained into this or that.

The article reminded me of a glaring statistic that I heard about 11 years around WYD Sydney. A cousin of mine who is a Priest was co ordinating all the ‘current’ seminarians who were attending. In a session about what was the greatest influence on their faith and vocation and I think virtually every one cited his mothers influence. I thought how great it would be to gather together mothers of seminarians and religious and formulate a model of faith that so organically reflected the natural maternal love of Our Lady for the Church!

The pope warned against the “clericalization” of the laity, pointing specifically to problems he has seen with permanent deacons. In Buenos Aires, Argentina, he said, there was a common tendency to want to turn excellent laymen into deacons or when someone became a permanent deacon he would end up as a “wannabe” priest.
I was surprised that the Pope said this. In the United States some parishes are a wonderful model of the permanent diaconate. Deacons give great homilies that are well thought out and give an interesting and different perspective compared to the the priest. The Deacons visit the sick and bring communion deeply strengthening the community.

I’m not sure what Pope Francis is getting at here, and I’m not sure what it has to do with including more woman in church bodies.

Permanent deacons are relatively rare worldwide. The US and Italy are, to my knowledge, the only two countries in the world with significant numbers of permanent deacons. My own archdiocese in Canada didn’t even have a permanent deacon formation program until maybe 8 years ago (at most - don’t remember off hand). In my former diocese, I remember an older lady asking “whAt is a deacon???” Most Catholics around the world do NOT have interactions with deacons.

This is too bad!

In some parishes in the US (northern US especially) Deacons play a significant role. Deacons often are what holds a parish community together.

I have experienced various Deacons over the past thirty years and they are all wonderful holy men with blessed wives.
