May I please venture to ask a third time for the same prayers? :o

My boyfriend’s grandmother, who lives with his family, has pancreatic and breast cancer. She was diagnosed a few months ago, and really has gone downhill since then, with a few brighter moments. She has been in and out of the hospital, and has been getting chemotherapy. The grandmother is my boyfriend’s mom’s mom. She has been caring for the grandmother before and ever since the diagnosis, and it has been top notch care, trying to keep her comfortable at home instead of in a hospital, and when grandmother is in the hospital, the mom is with her nearly every minute.

But the grandmother has been growing weaker and weaker, and the mom more tired, because she is up all night caring for her. The grandmother is in a lot of pain now, and even morphine is barely helping her. The pancreatic tumor has grown a lot larger, now, and I think that may be causing the pain. The grandmother has also changed quite a bit, herself…before she was quite a lady, but now she barely can keep her eyes open, and drifts in and out of sleep. The hospice nurses that visit her at home just yesterday said that the grandmother might not last a week, even if that.

I fixed the family dinner yesterday for Memorial Day, because I thought the mom could use some rest. So, could I ask for prayers for the mom, so she might be able to get some sleep, and plenty of help? Prayers for the dad and sister, also, because it affects them greatly. Prayers for my boyfriend also, because he is doing his best to be strong, and I am doing my best to be supportive of him, and the entire family.

And prayers for the grandmother. I pray for a miracle, and I pray for a peaceful entrance into eternal life–God’s will be done, but I pray that we all have the courage to accept His will.

Thank you so much! I really can’t explain just how much I appreciate any time you might have to send a few prayers on their behalf.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses(/debts) as we forgive those who trespass(/debt) against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. (“debt” in deference to the fact that the grandmother and family are Presbyterian).

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Your boyfriend, and your boyfriend’s family, are so blessed to have such a kind, caring person as you to love and help them, and to ask prayer for them.

Before such a post I am made to feel wordless, with all that is happening with the family, all that is needed, and with your faith and prayer, so rather than post a prayer, Holly, I can promise you that you will all remain in my thoughts and prayers and daily Masses, with your family needs and prayers.

Beloved Lord God, You conceived of this suffering and afflicted grandmother from all eternity as an irreplaceable part of Your Divine Plan. You alone saw that she was brought forth and that she was provided with a loving family to care for her future needs. The time has arrived, Lord, and we ask You to have immense mercy upon her, calling her home to an eternity of peace, in the joy of your presence. We ask Your blessing upon her daughter, whose love is so profound that she would sacrifice herself for the sake of her mother. May Your favor continue to rest upon the family as they face this increasingly sorrowful event. But, Lord, we also beg You to increase their faith until this no longer causes sorrow, but joy! We live not for this world, but for the next. May all pray for grandmother’s fearless answer to Your call, which will come to each of us. Graciously incline Your ear to hear the intercession of Jesus, Who sits and Your Right Hand. Mercifully join our prayers with those of the Angels and Saints to form an unending petition for mercy upon grandmother’s soul, and for the continued strength of her daughter, who loves her mother in imitation of You. Draw the entire family closer together, and reveal to them the miraculous greater good that will come from this painful event. We ask this through the same Christ, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!

Father, thank you so much for such a loving family.
I beg of you to relieve the physical pain and suffering
of this poor grandmother. Allow her entry into your
heavenly home be peaceful.
Grant relief to this mother who is wearing out
physically and mentally. Give this woman strength
to do what must be done. Give this famiy peace
and comfort.
I ask all of this in the name of Jesus.
AMEN

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.
Amen.

To Saint Peregrine
O great St. Peregrine, you have been called “The Mighty,” “The Wonder-Worker,” because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you. For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you. (Pause here and silently recall the names of the sick for whom you are praying)

Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy. Amen.
