DH is starting up again with sending our son overseas (if you don’t know the situation, we do not always get along the best and he is not motivated to teach anything to our son from his country). He said he didn’t want to put him in preschool, but to keep him home mornings and teach him things. He doesnt’ teach him anything and hasn’t. he doesn’t speak to him in his language, and doesn’t do anything but drag him around while he does his errands and then gets mad at him and calls him stupid when - surprise - our son gets loud and cranky!

He keeps bringing it up now. He let it drop until two idiot friends of his said they sent their kids overseas to live with their families - not to mention that they came back as spoiled brats! And also not to mention that husband and wife are both from the same country and believe different things than traditional americans, so they really don’t care much about their kids in my opinion and they think that it would be okay with me? Well, sorry just because he’s hard to handle doesn’t mean I’m going to send him away and I will leave over this.

DH just called and said that he’s “the man of the house” and I should leave if I’m not willing to send him overseas - then he softened his tone and said he didn’t even know if the family would be able to take him that long (a year or a little less) - yeah right, sure they would say no.

Anyway, I think I’ll need prayers because I think I’ll be leaving in the future and I’ll need some thoughts and prayers. Thanks.

Praying that your DH will have a change of heart.

It is sad that friends would influence a person.

A bit off topic, but when we were growing up in India (I was a teenager) I can remember my Mum telling her distant cousin who had come for a visit (while my Mum had cancer) that she should not be leaving her DS (he was 2) with her mom all week (4 hours drive away) and only seeing him on weekends because she could not find a proper babysitter where she lived. A child needs his Mother growing up is what my Mom said… Mom was a teacher and we were left with family and friends during the day and there was a time when for a few months I lived with my Aunt (more convenient travelling to school) but I saw Mom daily, at that time my Dad was away working in Iraq and we only saw him once a year… I cannot imagine being separated from DS, so far he has only had a few sleepovers at my Dad’s place and that is just 10 mins away

I’ve read the other thread, too. Here’s some tough love.

This man is *disrespecting *you; he follows none of your good suggestions. He is treating you like an unpaid babysitter and housekeeper.

There is a high danger of his kidnapping your son to India. That means he will never see you again.

You need a lawyer, NOW. You need to document his continual efforts to get you to ship your very young child off to strangers in a foreign land. You need to notify Customs and the immigration people that he does NOT have your consent to take your son out of the country. Not even to Canada or Mexico.

You need to file an affidavit about this situation (with video), and about not consenting to his taking the child out of the country, to have as proof of your intentions.

Quit dithering, and do it! Prayer is good, but God needs us to take action, too.

Praying for you,

Ruthie
