I’ve been absent from CAF for almost a year (if not a little more than a year). In July 09 I was diagnosed w/ breast cancer while I was 20 weeks pregnant & 28 years old. I found out 3 days after my diagnosis that our baby was a little girl. I went to MD Anderson for advice on how to handle my situation. At MDA they’ve been doing chemotherapy on pregnant women for 20 years, so they added me to their group. Rachel & I weathered the pre-birth chemotherapy wonderfully together.

I delivered a healthy & happy baby girl Nov 26, 2009 - Thanksgiving & her daddy’s birthday. My non-baptized husband was baptized Dec 20 with our little girl! It was wonderful! Three weeks later I began my post-birth chemotherapy. I had some serious side effects from it, so instead of getting 4 treatments, I got 2 of one type & 1 of another. I’m still suffering from some of those side-effects (neuropathy).

February 19th I had a bilateral mastectomy w/ expander/implant reconstruction. I had a fairly uneventful recovery from that as well. I made the difficult decision to have my ovaries & tubes removed during the 2nd surgery. The genetic mutation that caused my breast cancer is also linked to ovarian/tubal cancer. Since I have 2 wonderful children, I am okay with perhaps adopting more after I’ve fully recovered.

My white blood cell counts didn’t recover as wel as preferred though, so my 2nd surgery was canceled. I’ve now had my ovaries & tubes removed, but not the 2nd part of my reconstruction due to the severe complications during my oopherectomy. I almost bled to death while on the operating table - I lost 1.5L of blood. Instead of a simple laproscopic surgery, I have a large incision that is quite painful. My surgery was Aug 31st.

I’m still having a difficult time. I appreciate any & all prayers for me & my family.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women and
bessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Congratulations on your baby and your husband’s baptism! I will keep you in my prayers :gopray:

Pater noster, qui es in caelis, sanctificetur Nomen tuum. Adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo.

Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae.

Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula saeculorum. Amen

Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary,
that never was it known, that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
though burdened by my sins, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me.
Amen.

I will remember your intentions at
Lauds this morning. You are so brave.

Oh my poor dear. You have certainly been through a lot, physically and emotionally. You have to give yourself time. Everyday will be a challenge at first. Eventually you will heal and live normally. Though not like your situation, my sister is a breast cancer survivor. She had many complications and setbacks. But I am happy to report that she has been cancer free for almost 5 years. She is 58 years old. At times she thought she would not live but we are now 8 years from her initial diagnosis and she is going strong. I will pray for your physical and emotional healing. May the Lord send his comfort and strength and may you place your trust in Him. You have many reasons to hope. You will be okay. God’s love to you.

Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.
