… there is a HUGE spiritual battle taking place RIGHT NOW!

Right now? 😛 I think it has been going on since the days of Christ when the mob shouted, “crucify Him!” There was a good presentation the other night on EWTN. The priest related that in the early church, of the first 37 bishops, 33 were martyrs! Kill the head, the old adage goes, and you scatter the lambs.

But nevertheless, Satan has not and never will prevail against the Church. It’s exciting to watch his downfall.

In fairness, Kathleen, the bishop has only been installed three years. If you look at the diocesan paper today, several priests are assigned to two parishes. We just don’t have enough to go around. Holy Family in Latrobe has 1800 families and 4906 individuals registered. They just lost an assistant pastor, and the usual five masses must now be reduced.

That’s only THIS year. During the past several times that assignments were listed, many priests serve more than one parish, not just the ones listed in today’s paper.

Just how can you expect them to add a TLM for a small minority of those who desire it? It isn’t very feasible. In the example of the above parish being reduced to only one priest, would you insist he have an additional mass now just for the latin rite people?

These are the facts we face, and our Bishops are more aware than perhaps the Pope who has not taken this into account with his decision.

You may have to adjust your preferences and go with the flow, much though it be to your disliking.
First there are more people that desire a more traditional Holy Mass then you might think. Many of them have kept silent. My family and I don’t discuss the desire for the return to tradition with very many people. This week I happened to call the lady across the street from us and mentioned our priest being reassigned. She mentioned that she and her family miss the Latin she was raised with.

When the PM comes through I pray that none of us have to “adjust our preferences” and “go with the flow”. Holy Mother Church has enough room for us all. Have you ever read the VII papers? They are quite enlightening and many of the things that are in “vogue” were never allowed. Just dispensations (indults) for long standing “abuses” (alter girls etc).

There has- the beast of Apocalypse 13 started his attack on the Church after the cross, and has been steadily making “progress” ever since- Roman persecution, Islamic attacks, Orthodox split, “reformation”, Galileo affair, renaissance, “enlightenment”, modernism, masonry, etc…

Satan is curently bound in the bottomless pit (but has the beast as his proxy), and at the end of time will be cast in the lake of fire.

I wonder who does not like the motu propio?

The Priestly Order of St. Peter is always willing to help when there aren’t enough diocesan priests - IF that’s the real reason for not TLM.

We have had some offers to do the TLM. Our Bishop has refused the offers.

Yes, I figured that. The real issue is not lack of priests to say TLM but the fact that bishop refuses to allow it.
Thanks eric, I agree from what I have gathered. I’ve heard every excuse but when it comes right down to it, it has everything to do with the bishop. A lack of priests has nothing to do with it. There is no reason why an additional mass (TLM) cannot be inserted into the Sunday schedule. The priest will have to make an extra effort, but Christ said we all must carry our crosses for His Kingdom. My boss tells me that going forward I have additional responsibilities for the same pay and as a Catholic I gladly accept the additional weight God has put on my shoulders. I know many priests who despite their busy schedules would like nothing better than to celebrate the TLM but they cannot because of their bishop. It has everything to do with the bishop. Let’s pray that God has mercy on their souls for depriving Catholics of what came to us from the apostles and produced the vast majority of our saints.

I wouldn’t put too much weight on what the British Media say when reporting on Catholicism… especially the Old Mass…

Comments like “16th C. Rite” and “back to the congregation” and other aforementioned comments in the article show its a bad piece of non/little-researched journalism.
I noticed that, too—especially with this quote:
The Tridentine Rite, which dates back to the 1560 Council of Trent, differs from the new Mass in that it is celebrated in Latin with the priest leading the people in facing east, the direction from which the Church believes Jesus will appear on the Last Day.
I’m assuming that Mssrs. Petre and Caldwell consider themselves to be competant journalists; but if so, how is it that they appear to be unable to check the most basic of facts in their story, such as the fact that Trent did not convene until 1545, and ran until 1563, and did not take place, in whole or in part, in “1560” as they reported?

If they are unable to accurately report such a simple piece of easily-researched information in their article, then how much of the rest of it is inaccurate as well?

Kathleen, it’s obvious that some people, especially the ones who post here in the TC forum, are as against the TLM as some of the bishops who refuse to allow it. They want their Mass, but they don’t care for us to have ours.

I feel so silly asking this… but could someone explain to me what the MP actually is?
I understand that the full return of the TLM is included in it, but what else should I know?

The MP, or the Motu Proprio, is what will be released to the public by the Pope that supposedly will liberalize the TLM. At this point that’s all we know.

My children when they were younger and now my grandchildren have a tendancy to want things for themselves and forget all the rest of the family.🤷

It looks like Pete and RePete are having a field day with my post, insinuating motives that they wished to read into them. Parmedicgirl and Kathleen, kindly read my post again and tell me where exactly I have said this:

.

I tried to help Kathleen understand our bishop’s position, as he is new and has his hands full trying to place priests in parishes where there are none. Have you two so little compassion or understanding? Lighten up, please, and before you attempt to put mouths into my words, read what I wrote with a charitable mind.

Well, you know how the devil hates Latin…

First, let’s have the Motu Proprio actually be released and in force.

Quite 👍 - people can hardly be criticised for opposing something that has not even been published.

Maybe we should do something about those people who refuse to accept the 853th Vatican Council 🙂
