Still waiting for a Mormon defender to take on this myriad of obvious frauds and changes…Once again i suggest we change the subject to a more provable point. let’s change the subject to Mormonism and it’s many changes. In Mormonism we’re not dealing with differing opinions of councils, we’re dealing with the claim of direct revelation from Jesus Christ himself to one man, Joseph Smith.
Let’s start with the thousands of changes made in the Doctrine and Covenants. For those who are unfamiliar with the Doctrine and Covenants (hereafter D&C) it is a Mormon book Joseph Smith taught contained the exact words of revelations from Christ. Many times Mormon leaders have boasted of the exactness of the revelations contained in the D&C for example: Joseph Fielding Smith tenth President of the Mormon church made this comment concerning Joseph Smith’s revelations:

Inspiration is discovered in the fact that each part, as it was revealed, dovetailed perfectly with what had come before. There was no need for eliminating, changing, or adjusting any part to make it fit; but each new revelation on doctrine and priesthood fitted in its place perfectly to complete the whole structure, as it had been prepared by the Master Builder. (Doctrines of Salvation, Vol, 1, page 170)

However any historical study reveals thousands of changes in Joseph Smith’s revelations, many of them changing the meaning of the revelations completely.

While there have been a few Mormons who have been willing to admit that Joseph Smith’s revelations have been changed, many have not been that honest.

Clearly Joseph Smiths numerous changes disqualify his words as being real scripture. In Deuteronomy 4:2 we read:

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.
We ask, If the revelations were from God, why would they have to be changed many times completely changing even reversing their original meaning? Was not the Mormon God capable of giving the revelations right the first time? If there is more interest in this subject we will discuss at length the changes and their significance.

near as i can tell there is always an explaination for these things, for instance in this case they will probably say that most of the changes were punctuational or grammatical and have no effect on meaning. and if they do have an effect on meaning then they will say that Joseph wasn’t always acting as a prophet, or that things weren’t written down accurately and had to be corrected later. Etc.

I wonder if this is evidence of what Paul and Majick have said, that the mormon god is not very powerful and often makes mistakes that have to be corrected later.

yes it is disappointing that z falls back on name calling when the going gets rough. i’m sure he’s a nice guy. we shouldn’t be harsh in judging this behaviour after all young people can be impetuous and sometimes display pour judgement.

maybe one of the other mormons would be able to provide the standard mormon defense against these changes that xmormon lays out in detail.

What I really never quite grasp is this whole idea of praying about the truth of the BOM. Of course I understand the tactic… If you pray and have a good feeling then of course the BOM is true because it says right in the BOM if that happens then the BOM is true. but how it is totally ignored that the bible tells us there will be false prophets and they must be tested.

Dt 18:22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

Now if I read that correctly if a prophet makes a false propesy then he is a false prophet.

The crux then becomes the multiple times that Joseph Smith was just plain wrong. Probably the most indisputable being a closed dated prophesy…

Doctrine and Covenants section 84:1-5

1 A revelation of Jesus Christ unto his servant Joseph Smith, Jun., and six elders, as they bunited their hearts and clifted their voices on high.
2 Yea, the word of the Lord concerning his church, established in the last days for the arestoration of his people, as he has spoken by the mouth of his bprophets, and for the cgathering of his dsaints to stand upon eMount Zion, which shall be the city of fNew Jerusalem.
3 Which city shall be abuilt, beginning at the btemple lot, which is appointed by the finger of the Lord, in the western boundaries of the State of Missouri, and cdedicated by the hand of Joseph Smith, Jun., and others with whom the Lord was well pleased.
4 Verily this is the word of the Lord, that the city aNew Jerusalem shall be built by the gathering of the saints, beginning at this place, even the place of the temple, which btemple shall be creared in this dgeneration.
5 For verily this generation shall not all apass away until an bhouse shall be built unto the Lord, and a ccloud shall rest upon it, which cloud shall be even the dglory of the Lord, which shall fill the house.

Now if I read Dueteronomy correctly it only takes one false prophesy to make someone a false prophet…

So really how is it that people just don’t get that mormonism is false?

Probably because no other religion embraces racism and sexism and other prejudices as intensely as does LDS. They want to have religion and bigotry both.
