The LDS Church on Monday unequivocally rejected the actions of Mormons and others who have taken over a federal wildlife refuge in Oregon, some spouting scriptural language and claiming divine approval.
One participant even used the moniker Captain Moroni, a figure from the faith’s signature scripture, the Book of Mormon.
Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints “strongly condemn the armed seizure of the facility,” LDS spokesman Eric Hawkins said in a news release, “and are deeply troubled by the reports that those who have seized the facility suggest that they are doing so based on scriptural principles.”

Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you. (Romans 13:1-3; NLT)
Although, this can be looked at as a deeper situation. I’m simply interested to find out what is occurring and see what breaking stories come from this event.
