Largely because I don’t think I really started understanding the doctrines until age 19-21. It was only through daily study and sharing what I had studied/learned/understood with others that I began to get a better grasp of LDS doctrine. And frankly, I’m still learning.
To be honest that’s largely why I am in these forums. Living in Utah you don’t get challenged about your doctrine very often. And its that opposition that really forces one to read your doctrines carefully enough to gain a better understanding.
Casually reading you may have an epitome once in a blue moon. But fervently searching and studying for answers really speeds up the process. I just don’t think there are many teenagers who ever get to that process. Just my opinion though.
