Thank you for you service!
**Hi Paul, šŸ‘‹

I only mentioned that so MEgus would know that I ā€œcouldā€ tear his tongue out! 😃 I was a ranger and had 54 confirmed kills before I got shot!

Thanks for saying that! I am a work in progress. I can’t wait to see what God finally makes out of this poor sinner!**

MEgus,

If you are interested in reading about literary forms in scripture, an excellent definition and discussion of them is in this book::

amazon.com/God-Said-What-Introduction-Biblical/dp/080914129

This book, ā€œAnd God Said What?ā€ by Margaret Nutting Ralph has been extremely helpful to me, along with my Study Bible, and several other resources I’ve come across. I meant to give this to you last night, just in case you’re interested at all in reading and maybe even discussing the topic further.

You might reject the idea altogether and thats fine too.

Peace,
Tami

**Hi Mf, šŸ‘‹

Doesn’t LDS put the writings of Joseph Smith ahead of the bible as he told you to do? (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 194).The LDS motto seems to be ā€œWhen in doubt write a new book or distort the bible!ā€

The scriptures speak of Protestants and about the Church of the LDS: **

That’s ā€œthe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,ā€ if you please. Whether you like the idea or not, His Name is not only prominent, it comes FIRST. Leaving it out in a discussion with LDS folk is a little like calling a Catholic a ā€œPapistā€ and expecting him to think you are friendly.

I’m just sayin’, is all.

I sat here for five minutes trying to think of something appropriate to say to this.

There just isn’t anything one can say to an announcement like this: you are telling MEgus that you really can cut his tongue out because you have killed 54 people.

Go for the drama, that’s always fun.

He is pointing out he’s not a girl, and perhaps you aren’t around groups of men enough to know, this is normal ā€œI’m manlyā€ talk. I know, I work with all men all the time and these are the sort of jabs I hear all day long (and far worse).

I’ve been around all sorts of men who have been where this man was; cousins who came back, and cousins who didn’t. I honor all of them.

Perhaps all men like to brag about the number of people they have killed in order to have a light hearted joke against a religious debate opponent on a public forum. However, I’ve been around public forums for a long time, and this is the first time I’ve ever seen it.

And puleeze, Rebecca, just because you don’t like ME, and because you have a knee jerk impulse to say ā€˜nay’ to anything I post, don’t let this blind you. Even someone you disagree with as often and as completely as you do me can sometimes be right.

RealCatholic’s post was a breath stopper.

…and a comment stopper. There’s nothing else I have to say about it, to anybody.

I like you well enough, for someone I don’t know at all. I disagree with what you have to say and how you say it.

🤷

I didn’t read realcatholic as threatening anyone. I saw chest pounding. If you saw it different, that’s just how it is.

One of my buddies was over there – a sniper and he never ever talks about it, much less brag about how many people he killed. We were at war and it was a necessary evil, but is not something you brag about to show you are a ā€œmanā€. Most real men do not have to go around trying to prove what they are

real men don’t have to prove their real men, that’s how you know a real man

more chest thumping

rock on

Hey guys, I will be working on other stuff for a while so if you have any choice insults and don’t I respond – maybe its cause I got my tongue ripped out, or maybe it’s for other reasons!

Have a nice vacation form this board. I’ll be praying for you.

My God certainly isn’t this one:
Now Korihor saith unto him, I do not deny the existence of a God, but I do not believe that there is a God; and I say also, that ye do not know that there is a God; and except ye shew me a sign, I will not believe. Now Alma saith unto him, This will I give unto thee for a sign, that thou shalt be struck dumb, according to my words; and I say, that in the name of God, that ye shall be struck dumb
that ye shall no more have utterance. Now when Alma said these words, Korihor was struck dumb, that he could not have utterance, according to the words of Alma.
😃

LOL my daughter had to translate this for me!
But now like I totally grok it man!

I’ll be on madb if anyone cares

Very funny…but if your God wouldn’t do that to Korihor, then…how can your God do this?

17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the bfathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
18 And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an bold man, and my wife well stricken in years.
19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.
20 And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

oops.

Agreed. God has zapped people on a number of occasions, but it’s always for their own good.
