The point is well-taken, but let’s not forget that the Mormons have quite a bit of experience dealing with internal sexual abuse.Wow. It took the LDS two days, two days, to “defrock” this monster. In lieu of this joke of a sex abuse summit going on in the Vatican the LDS General Authorities should’ve been flown into Rome for a consultation.
And ten bucks says that if there has been some mistake and they truly did get the wrong guy, some folks will still use the story as a club against the LDS church, calling foul at how quick we are to throw people under the bus to preserve a shiny reputation, or some such.“The behavior alleged in this incident is completely unacceptable and unbecoming of any member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and especially of someone serving in a position of local leadership," spokesman Eric Hawkins said. "Upon learning of this situation, local leaders took immediate steps to relieve him of his role and to identify his replacement.”
And the Catholic Church doesn’t?The point is well-taken, but let’s not forget that the Mormons have quite a bit of experience dealing with internal sexual abuse.
Losing your position as a bishop or priest doesnt strip you of your religionBut man do people like to bring up the Catholic Church and the sex scandal. I’m not saying these men are right because we know its bad but why be quick to strip them of their religion and open the door for more sin. I would think trying to help these men to sin no more would be the first thing to do after the legal system gets done with them.
