Mormon Christ "pretty close" to Christ of the Bible

But to answer your question, Mormon understanding of Jesus is actually pretty close to the Biblical one

This was a response by a fellow poster on CA. I will not use the name of who wrote it only to say that it was written by a Mormon. I was curious as to how many other Mormons on this forum would also say that the Christ they follow was, “pretty close” to the Christ of the Bible?

Why do you keep condemning Mormons?

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

For more information about LDS “fruits”, please read the BY and JS quotes threads…how they treat Christians, blacks, and others is appalling

Yep I know Melanie 🙂

This goes back to the thread that I posted between Z and I. He was the Mormon poster who I wished to not name 😊

You can read our exchanges if you care to see the reason he felt his post was needed. I am not overly concerned about his condemnations though 🤷

The admission that the Mormon jesus is “pretty close” to the True Jesus is one way of saying they are not the same Jesus. If I have one kind of car and my friend has a different kind of car, but they look similar and have similiar amenities, my friend might say, “my car is pretty close to your car”. And that would be true, But they would not be the same car. So it is with Jesus. The LDS Jesus is pretty close…but IT IS NOT THE SAME JESUS, hence, it is a false jesus.

Have you ever heard the old saying, “Close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and atom bombs”? 😃

I’m not taking any chances. I’m going with the real thing, and not something “close”.

I don’t know if it really matters just how close mormons are to christ of the bible. What I do know is that they live very christlike lives. In general, they look out for their neighbor and show concern for the welfare of others. And, they pray in the morning as a family and in the evening as a family. Plus, they pray over their meals and attempt to teach their children good wholesome christian values.

Now that is ‘pretty close’ to christ. And in the end, it is really the only thing that matters. 🙂

Yep…you are right, they are the wolves in speep’s clothing Jesus Himself warned us about
 
Here’s the thing. You’re either Jesus, or you’re not. You can’t be “pretty close”.

As has been amply demonstrated here, sometimes seriously & sometimes in fun, “close” or even “pretty close” doesn’t count.

I find it remarkable that a Mormon would actually ADMIT that the Mormon “Jesus” is only “pretty close” to the real Jesus. That says a lot. Now when I think that Mormons talk about a different Jesus than the Jesus I know, I will know FOR SURE that they are not the same!

Of course, that raises a bunch more questions…

What you have posted is very true and I know this because I had several mormon friends over the years I lived in AZ.
BUT, Their concern for others and their neighbors rests on whether or not that friend or neighbor is a fellow mormon or a prospective one.
If they are not in either catagory, the mormons keep their distance.
They are a lot like the jws that way.

I have seen several posters mention how they are shunned for either not being mormon in a mormon community, or for leaving it.

My cousin has been experiencing some of that recently since she resigned.
