The “creation” in the temple uses the word organize or formed instead of create. He doesn’t create light and darkness. He separates the light from the darkness. He doesn’t create animals on the earth. He places them on the earth. From what I remember, they very carefully avoid the use of the word “creation”.

It takes a lot of humility to admit that what you have been taught is all a lie. Truth is everything in Mormonism. Finding out that you have been lied to all your life is worse than death. That’s why so many ex-Mormons become atheist.
 
Yes, and from what I observed of many, it’s not only a crisis of faith, but even a crisis of personal identity.

It’s very damaging, very crippling. Many of those atheists are not even just simple atheists, but militantly so.
 
That’s what I have observed as well. It’s heartbreaking because when you leave the LDS church, you usually leave all your “friends” and family along with it.
 
It’s is brutal. The rifts among families is truly devastating. Divorce is common, too.
 
Right! I forgot about that. The LDS church has blood on its hands. That’s why I’m not sorry to see it slowly collapsing. I feel sorry for the average member but for the high ups? No sympathy.
 
I feel sorry for a lot of them as well. Many of them are trapped and know they are trapped. They have wives and kids who adore them for who they are and members who look up to them as great examples. They live lives of loneliness, trapped in a world of lies, and they can’t escape without jeopardizing their family units. It’s easier to just pretend for the sake of the marriage than to take a stand and lose virtually everything you have and suffer great embarrassment on top of everything else.
 
I had my doubts about that very thing! I thought that one guy was a closet disbeliever but he stayed in for his family!
 
I’ve known men like this, lost all faith in the LDS but stayed because of their families. What a dilemma that must be. They know the LDS view of salvation is false but they do see any recourse to learn about real salvation. We can only pray God has mercy on them.

The TV show escaping polygamy outlines this well with the FLDS and the Kingstons. When people leave, they leave everything, and with nothing. No skills, no friends, no family. And commonly they turn to Drugs and atheism. I was in SLC at temple square in the fall and there is a huge homeless and drug community there. Certainly not in the actual square, or the mall next door, but all around it And many are former Mormons. But, within one day I was in Rome. And saw the exact same thing. Outside the Square. Coupled with machine guns and swindlers… Sigh. It is a plague of religions everywhere.
Escaping Polygamy is an excellent show. But you knew someone would be hurt or killed because of it. Sadly someone was.

Yes, but I see this at Mass as well. I know people personally who suffer a crisis of faith and stay for the sake of the family. Sometimes, even within the Church, I feel that way. I don’t attend SSPX Masses because It would cause disharmony in my family and confuse my children.
 
I think I was fortunate. I left with three of my children in tow. They wanted out as much as I did. One stayed in the church and served a mission for seven months and realized it was a hoax. One who had left the church returned to the church and was recently sealed to his wife in the temple. It’s hard to be happy about that but he’s my son and I still love him. I have work to do!!
 
My great grandfather was a polygamist. He had two wives who were sisters and 21 children. I’ve read so many heart wrenching stories about polygamy that I can’t bear to watch a program about it. It was/is an evil practice.
 
Regardless of religion people can have a crisis of faith. The very big difference is, at least within Catholicism, it’s okay to say I’m having a crisis of faith. A statement like that would be met with a desire to assist that person, give support to getting past it. Also it would be met with the willingness to answer questions. With the LDS a crisis would be met with something very different.

Do your wife & children know their salvation does not depend on you remaining Catholic? I’m fairly certain they do. LDS women cannot say the same.
 
That is a good point. Mormons do believe that the faith of the husband saves the wife and pulls her through the veil. However, as a catholic I do believe our first job as a spouse us to help our spouse achieve heaven. And we are charged with baptizing our children to save them.

Just to be clear, Christian Missionaries do not represent THE Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. Christian Missionaries represent Christian churches. Your church is not a Christian church.
