The Catholic Church has aired its dirty laundry? Please inform us when that took place? From the every report one hears in the USA and in Europe and Africa, there continues to be an onslaught of sexual abuse of both male and female children and adults. Has the CC ever once admitted to the widespread proliferation of mistresses and children out-of-wedlock, the progeny of parish priests. Mind you, this sexual abuse and fornication has lasted for for almost the entire time the CC has existed and it has never been an open book, the CC has never taken full responsibility because it has never admitted to every case.
I laugh out loud when I read any Catholic seek to limited comments of adultery or wild sexual claims against Joseph Smith, Brigham Young or any one else within the LDS leadership at any point in its history. The audacity, particularly during this time, when the evidence is staggering, attempting to accuse anyone else is the ultimate form of hypocrisy. Just an iota of humility seems in order. The stench of sin is so strong it is “despicable” (I believe that is the word I have heard often on this forum by good Catholics).
At no point has Brigham Young or Joseph Smith ever been accused of sexual abuse of a male or of a young child. The claim of adultery are laughable. Adultery can only exist between unmarried partners…these men were polygnists, not adulates. They were not fornicators, nor were they homosexuals.
There is another way around these types of conversations. Don’t accuse other churches or individuals of sins unless your church is perfect. Promote the truths of your church, seek to share the joy of Christ you find in Her teachings. Lastly, drop the sanctimonious, self-righteous indignation; nothing about it says “I am a disciple of Jesus Christ”.
