Just to play “Devil’s Advocate” about a “Satanist” for president…

Let us look at the following facts, most satanists are followers of Anton LaVey and they are the group I will talk about tonight because I could be here all week talking about other groups who call themselves satanists in one sense or another.

Followers of LaVey do not believe in God or Satan, they are atheists. While we might not like this fact, try and tell me that many of our presidents (even our current one) REALLY believed in God? I think many of them just give lip service. At least with the satanist, they would be up front about this fact.

Followers of LaVey care only about themselves and will lie, cheat and steal to get ahead in this world. Please name the president who does not in some way do this already. Again, at least with a satanist, they are honest about the fact that they lie, cheat and steal. I would rather have an honest thief then a dishonest one any day of the week.

Followers of LaVey believe that if it feels good, you should do it. Please tell me why you think Bill Clinton and JFK did not believe this in their heart of hearts? Once again, at least the satanist is up front about this fact. If we found out that the satanist was messing around with the maid in the oval office, nobody could claim that they are “shocked” by this. And as an added bonus, they might avoid long legal troubles over it by just saying “Yes, I am also sleeping with my daughters friend in the east wing on the weekends, what is your point?”

(Please note before some of you get your panties in knots and want to tar and feather me, I am not saying that a satanist for president would be a good idea. I for one would LOVE to have an honest, devote Catholic in the White House. However at the end of the day, I don’t think a satanist would really be that bad of a president, at least we would know where he/ she stands on things)

Too bad we all couldn’t learn to Pray exceedingly and Trust in Gods Providence and Wisdom that He picks our Country Leaders.

This way we can throw the conjecture and the squabbling media hearsay in the bloody trash.

I live in a country where religion is not an issue at election time. There are those who try to make it an issue, but they tend to be fringe lobbyists. Mainstream Australia doesn’t consider the personal faith of candidates as important when voting - at least not when compared to the actual issues facing the country.

I think that is quite reasonable. Our experience has been that Catholic Prime Ministers and Protestant Prime Ministers - and now Atheist Prime Ministers - sometimes make good choices and sometimes don’t. At the end of the day, regardless of their views on the Almighty, their political ideology is more influential in how they govern.

But that is in my country. It may be different in America.

I’m not crazy about Romney (truth be told, I’m a Democrat) but he comes from a wonderful family, and more important, he’s the only presidential candidate who will make defending marriage any sort of priority. He fought that issue tooth and claw in Massachusetts, and mitigated the damage by enforcing an old law that banned non MA residents from ssms. I’m certain that Huckabee received support and money from gay rights supporters who just wanted to kill Romney’s presidency. If you place any importance on protecting marriage from being rendered neuter, then Romney’s the man.

I suspect that most satanists, most real actual worshipers of Satan, don’t call themselves satanists, but call themselves good Christians, or whatever holds power in some area at the moment.

Mitt Romney is a Mormon. They say he is a moderate.
The Mormon church does not believe in the same Jesus that christians do.
I was not aware there was more than one Jesus Christ.
Yay! :extrahappy::bowdown2::tiphat: :clapping:

I cannot tell you how sick I am of the PolyChristers who continually go on about “the mormon Jesus” and all that Ed Decker garbage. Yep, there’s only one.

So? We all know JFK was a Catholic… and we all know he was a cheating womanizer. A person can be a good person and a good president, regardless of religious denomination.
You are correct. JFK was hardly a model Catholic. But my point is, the “religion issue” turned out to be a non-issue. And ever since then, a person’s religious belief is rarely an issue in American politics.

Did you know, for example, that the U.S. Supreme Court is made up entirely of Catholics and Jews? Not a Protestant in the bunch.

I think the religious beliefs (or non-beliefs) of a Presidential candidate should have no bearing on his or her qualifications for becoming President.
I agree with this. Let his stances determine whether he gets a vote. Of course, if his stances don’t square with our Catholic values, then that is good reason not to vote for him…not just because he’s Mormon.
