I missed that point because it has nothing to do with my argument. Honestly, I don’t see why my point was so hard to understand. Even Majick agreed with it, and he’s a Catholic ex-Mormon who disagrees with me about almost everything!

it has quite a lot to do with it… You wouldn’t even be making the points you are if you believed that the RCC is the original Church Christ established… if you realized that there is only ONe truth, One God and they do not change… Jesus said that He would build His Church on Peter (the Rock) and that the very gates of Hell would not prevail against it… (St. Matthew 16:18). He never promised that the gates of Hell would not prevail against any other so-called church or against any individual… so it seems it is very important (IMPERative) to be in that One Church of Christ…

Once a person realizes this… he/she is not all that concerned about all the false belief systems in the world… and what their positioin is on marriage or what have you… They know there is only one right one and so, end of story…

Ok, I get it–you weren’t even trying to engage my point. You were simply trying to say that Catholicism is always right, so it doesn’t matter if Catholics make bad arguments against non-Catholic groups.

Well, I beg to differ. Bad arguments for true conclusions bring discredit to the truth. If you click on my name and bring up my recent posts, you will find that in the last 24 hours I have piped up to correct two Mormons who were making bad arguments based on incorrect interpretations of the Catholic doctrine of the Trinity. Why did I speak up? Because I want my people (Mormons) to make good arguments for their point of view, rather than discrediting themselves by making bad arguments. I could just sit back and say nothing, out of a misguided sense of “loyalty,” but I would consider myself a jerk for doing so.

In a related vein, I really appreciate those Catholic posters who speak up once in a while when they think their fellow Catholics are treating other posters unfairly. It makes me feel like SOMEBODY here is worth talking to.
