This prophecy comes directly from Doctrine & Covenants Section 84, the introduction of which states:

Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Kirtland, Ohio, September 22 and 23, 1832. HC 1:286-295.

1. A revelation of Jesus Christ unto his servant Joseph Smith, Jun., and six elders, as they united their hearts and lifted their voices on high.
2. Yea, the word of the Lord concerning his church, established in the last days for the restoration of his people, as he has spoken by the mouth of his prophets, and for the gathering of his saints to stand upon Mount Zion, which shall be the city of New Jerusalem.
3. Which city shall be built, beginning at the temple lot, which is appointed by the finger of the Lord, in the western boundaries of the State of Missouri, and dedicated by the hand of Joseph Smith, Jun., and others with whom the Lord was well pleased.
4. Verily, this is the word of the Lord, that the city New Jerusalem shall be built by the gathering of the saints, beginning at this place, even the place of the temple, which temple shall be reared in this generation.
5. For verily this generation shall not all pass away until an house shall be built unto the Lord, and a cloud shall rest upon it, which cloud shall be even the glory of the Lord, which shall fill the house.

The Mormons were forced to flee Missouri due to persecution and a temple was never built on the “temple lot” in the lifetime of Joseph Smith or within the generation of his contemporaries.

What of the scripture in Matt 24:34 wherein Christ after mentioning signs of his Second Comming, including the sun darkened and the moon turned to blood, says, “Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” According to your reasoning this is also a false prophecy. How do you explain it?

What of the scripture in Matt 24:34 wherein Christ after mentioning signs of his Second Comming, including the sun darkened and the moon turned to blood, says, “Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” According to your reasoning this is also a false prophecy. How do you explain it?

OMG! You got some nerve to suggest that what smith says is in some way equal to Christ speaking. Remember, time for Christ is not the same as our time, whether He is on earth or in Heaven. And you call yourself a christian? Your far from it

36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

I find it humorous when the Mormons disappearance rate is proportionate to the posting facts rate…

So, you may have seen forest fires in Colorado in the news. I’ve been busy preparing to evacuate since Monday. I received a mandatory evacuation notice on Wednesday. I was watching our Catholic neighbors’ house while they were on vacation, and was able to grab their family bible and a few other things. We spent a night at a KOA while I found emergency shelter for our animals, and then finally got my family into a hotel the next day.

I saw our neighborhood yesterday - we’re some of the lucky ones. My neighbors’ in-law’s house is gone. They say my church building is still standing, probably uninhabitable for a while. The community church across the street burned down. I keep meeting people at our hotel who have lost everything. I’m guessing I know a dozen or so families who have lost their homes (this thing destroyed almost 500 homes).

It’s been rather hectic. Sorry I couldn’t keep up my end of the deal here of responding to the latest round of stuff. I won’t be able to devote any time here for the forseeable future. In addition to having to hold down a job and care for my wife and family, I’ll be involved in the various cleanup efforts in my community.

Y’all stay safe. If you live in a forest, for the love of pete, don’t have trees within 10’ of your home.

I’m guessing from calling yourself one of the lucky ones that your home is still there if so I’m very happy for you. I’ll keep you and your community in my prayers. All the best to you and your neighbors on the clean up. I hope this means the danger of fire is over for you?
