I do live in Utah, but I have not always lived here. I know what it is like to be in the minority of belief, and to be near a church that actively tried to tear my belief down.
Then you should understand how hard it can be to be a minority.
The One Trinity labeled us as pedophiles on another thread…and was scolded by another catholic poster for making such a comment. If T.O.T. lives in Utah and behaves much like he/she has here, no wonder he/she has not had any good interactions while in Utah.
Is it possible that something bad has happened to The One Trinity? How about a little compassion until we know the details?
You see, you said it… if something bad happens to someone it is because they deserve it. THAT DRIVES ME CRAZY!!! I have heard that so many times since living here and I have never ever heard it before.
How about a zero tolerance for dissing one’s neighbor because Jesus said so? How about turning the other cheek and not condoning revenge?
I am not saying you have not had any bad interactoins with LDS while in Utah. What I take issue with is blanket statements like "Anyway, the one thing you will never hear a Utah Mormon say is “sorry.”. I know many LDS here in Utah that would apologize in a heart beat if they thought they made anybody, not just non-LDS, feel unwelcome or uncomfortable.
I have had numerous issues and believe me, we are a nice conservative family who mind our own business. We don’t push anything in other people’s faces.
I have had to defend my faith against the strangest misconceptions and we (and many other people that I know) have had to deal with vandalism.
When we were the victim of another act of vandalism at our house by our neighbor kids I was told by an LDS neighbor that it is LDS kids just “fooling around” and not to take it personally.
Huh? Acts of repeated vandalism are not to be taken personally? By the neighbor’s own admittance he said it was LDS kids who like to fool around after mutuals (whatever that is).
No apologies, just told not to take it personally.
Would you and your friends apologize in a heartbeat if you knew that the people were devout Catholics and had no intention of becoming LDS?
There are many people here in Utah that are out to “tweak” the nose of the establishment and are against anything LDS. With that kind of attitude comes a huge chip on ones shoulder, and will usually not be able to see anything good about anything.
Not saying that is the case with you or T.O.T, but I have seen it.
