I am a former Mormon. I attended the temple many times and was married there as well. I found the temple not beautiful but garish, like the way hillbillies would decorate if given an unlimited budget.
In the Mormon temple, they teach you secret handshakes and passwords that they believe will allow you to pass by the sentinels that guard the way to heaven. If you don’t know the handshakes and passwords, you cannot get into heaven. They also make you wear a robe, a hat and a green apron that all looks very silly.
Back in the 70’ and 80’s when I was attending the temple, we had to swear to have our throats cut, our hearts torn from our chests and fed to the beasts, and to be disemboweled if we ever revealed the secrets of the temple. Oops, I’m in trouble!
As soon as the temple info became available on the internet, they started changing it to take out some of the parts that were deeply offensive to Christians (such as a spoof that made fun of a guy playing the part of a dim-witted Christian minister). In 1990 they removed the throat-cutting and disembowelment.
Later they took out parts offensive to feminists, such as women promising to obey their husbands as they would obey God.
But it’s still very cultish and IMO, satanic.
